THE OPPORTUNITY:

We are looking for a Financial Controller to lead Sibel’s accounting and reporting function. In this role, you will report to the General Counsel and SVP, Operations and work with cross-functional teams to react quickly and produce quality solutions to difficult technical challenges. The Financial Controller will provide strategic thought to an inclusive management team and lay the foundational groundwork to scale the department. WHAT YOU WILL BE WORKING ON:

  • Lead all financial and accounting activities including reporting – Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual requirements – and preparing and reviewing journal entries and financial statement reconciliations.
  • Act as accounting lead for Netsuite (or similar ERP) and oversee design, implementation and utilization.
  • Partner closely with third parties to manage annual audits, filings, taxes, and corporate accounting activities.
  • Assist CEO and SVP, Operations in preparation of financial updates, analysis, and board content for leadership team, Board of Directors, and investors.
  • Assist CEO and SVP, Operations in managing the annual budget, and implement appropriate management reporting.
  • Lead all aspects of accounting including accounts payable, general ledger, tax, and payroll.
  • Review and update technical accounting memorandums as needed as well as continue to improve on and strengthen the internal control environment.
  • Develop a system for tracking grant spending and determinations of realized / deferred revenues under both grants and contract sales. 
  • Work with Manufacturing and business operations teams to develop accurate bill of materials and product costing, and review inventory to minimize costing and COGS discrepancies.
  • Partner with cross functional team members to forecast and account for Product development projects and major collaborations.
  • Build best in class, in-house accounting functions; mentor, motivate and develop talent.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Knowledge of accounting principles including (GAAP and GAAS) general and cost accounting, tax reporting, and budgeting.
  • Maintains high ethical and confidentiality standards and cultivates within a team.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and participate as an active member of management. Must have a participative management style, strong team development and coaching skills, and the ability to lead, motivate and influence senior and executive-level managers.
  • Effective oral and written business communication skills.
  • Analytical, statistical, personal organization, and problem-solving skills; able to organize, prioritize, and execute a variable workload and multiple priorities.

YOU MAY THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF:

  • You have a Master’s degree in Business/Finance/Accounting or relevant discipline.
  • You have 8 years of relevant experience (within medical device/technology industries a plus).
  • You have CPA certification (active or inactive).
  • You have “Big Four” or national accounting firm audit experience.
  • You have experience implementing/maintaining accounting systems, internal control compliance and developing reporting and analytics capabilities.
