The Opportunity:

The Business Intelligence & Analytics Team is unlocking the vast amount and huge potential of Shutterstock data to evolve the company's key metrics that generate actionable insight to empower data-driven decisions. We are looking for a strategic leader who can combine business acumen, technical and analytical skills with top-notch relationship management skills to meet and deliver on business intelligence needs across the organization. This leader will work closely with marketing, sales and product teams to communicate the impact of marketing efforts, define and ensure alignment on a measurement framework, foster marketing intelligence and dashboard usage, and drive data-centric decision making to grow revenue and improve marketing ROI and true incrementality.

As Sr Director, Marketing Analytics, you will lead data-driven efforts and initiatives focused on monetization, growth, and optimization of our marketing efforts. Reporting to the VP, Data & Analytics, you will focus on solving complex business problems and communicating solutions through storytelling. You will also lead a passionate team of business analysts on new and existing initiatives and projects specifically focused on optimizing our large and growing marketing spend and SEO across the organization, while identifying projects that work well with our blended onshore/offshore model to leverage the additional capacity available via our offshore team.

Our product/tech operating model centers on customer lifecycle-based "divisions" that combine product, technology, design, and BI into cross-functional teams that share quarterly goals. The Sr. Director, Marketing Analytics also manages the BI team members in these divisions.

Together, marketing analytics, customer analytics, and division (growth) analytics represent the majority of our total investments in BI, making this a strategic and important role for Shutterstock.

You will also be responsible for developing internal BI capabilities and democratizing data across the organization. You will report on key business measures, deliver insights, develop compelling data visualizations, data mine, and tell our story to current and prospective business partners. A successful Sr Director, Marketing Analytics will challenge traditional thinking and drive the business through data in new ways that ultimately benefit our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Marketing Analytics lead for the BI / Analytics team to support key stakeholders across the organization to provide insightful analytics that impact business outcomes as it relates to our large and growing marketing and brand spend across many channels

  • Lead data-driven efforts and initiatives, working closely with our Marketing, Product and tech teams, focused on communicating the changes, impacts, opportunities and risks as they relate to our strategy and performance of Marketing and SEO as a major acquisition channel engine for the business.

  • Own all aspects of data, reporting, testing, measurement and optimization along with marketing stakeholders as well as marketing-related data and infrastructure projects including attribution, LTV, customer segmentation and targeting, personalization, etc.

  • Bring to the table strategic thought leadership, industry-leading perspective and best practices to advise various Marketing stakeholders

  • Develop and drive a world-class, comprehensive measurement strategy as a standardized, structured & repeatable framework for identifying and reporting on success measures, especially ROAS-based optimization and measures of marketing incrementality; Craft measurement framework to ensure successful execution and optimization of marketing campaigns

  • Manage and analyze monthly forecasts that measure and track the output of all marketing spend and other key performance metrics (ROI, CAC, LTV, Revenue)

  • Define, develop and socialize automated, universal KPIs and dashboards to track performance and success of efforts linked to business outcomes

  • Evangelize use of data and analytics in everything we do and work with partners to integrate analytical learnings and intelligence into business decisions

  • Tell compelling stories that are anchored in improving and optimizing customer experience and engagement across all touch points

  • Strategically define and continuously improve our data collection and visualization stack

  • Lead the team to deeply understand our customers, and their actions, our product offering and experience, what works or what does not, and develop future marketing strategy based on that understanding

  • Turn the complex data-driven insights you generate into simple communication through storytelling

  • Participate in business strategy discussions, determine how KPIs impact operational and financial performance of the business, work with business unit leaders to strategize & forecast accordingly

  • Cultivate a test & learn environment by creating and analyzing marketing experiments

  • Develop a partnership with business stakeholders to ensure we are meeting existing analytic needs by asking the right questions in order to deliver an actionable solution

  • Work very closely with Data Governance team to drive our initiatives towards a streamlined data environment for effective analysis

What you'll bring to the role:

  • 10 years of relevant work experience managing teams and successfully delivering analytic solutions in Marketing and/or Customer Analytics, Business Intelligence, or strategy/management consulting

  • Proven experience in optimization of various marketing channels including paid search, display, affiliate, brand marketing (online and offline), CRM/email, SEO and social

  • Strong analytical background with business acumen, and heavy experience in business and analytical consulting specific to Marketing Analytics applications

  • Consultative nature, with proven track record of using data to answer business questions

  • Top-notch stakeholder management, leadership skills and ability to make things happen

  • Knowledge of digital marketing platforms, including common website analytics platforms, ad servers and ad tech platforms.

  • Experience developing, implementing and determining business impact through various approaches to analysis and use of tools, including but not limited to:

    • Multi Channel attribution models and media mix modeling, understanding typical approaches, methods, challenges and output of both models

    • Knowledge of industry-specific measurement methods, such as customer lifetime value (customer lifetime value and lifetime value), propensity-to-buy, and propensity-to-churn

    • Testing design and methodologies, including A/B, multivariate, measures of incrementality, etc

    • Incorporating offline and external online (e.g., CRM) data into an online marketing campaign analysis

    • Developing custom approaches to complex measurement challenges such as video, social and content marketing

  • Strong experience in solving complex business problems through data and analysis.

  • Knowledge of SEO and related data, analytics and optimization a plus.

  • Experience working in an ecommerce capacity or consumer-facing websites or global technology company a plus

  • Basic competency with SQL skills for data analysis

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with ability to present and clearly explain insights based on data to non-technical executive audiences

  • Competency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, Powerpoint/Google Slides, etc.

Compensation ranges for candidates in locations outside of the location(s) below may differ based on the cost of labor, market, and additional factors.The pay range for this position is below:

* 210,000 - 270,000 per year in New York

Note: Commission-eligible roles are expressed as on-target earnings (base and commission). Non-commission roles are expressed as base salary only but are also eligible for annual incentives.
