Job Summary:

The Retail Registered Dietitian is passionate about promoting and supporting good health awareness and practices for store Associates, Customers and Community partners and is responsible for implementing, managing and evaluating education/health initiatives. The Retail Registered Dietitian will be responsible for positioning ShopRite as a credible source of health and nutrition information, giving us a competitive advantage. Working in partnership with Wakefern, Pharmacy and/or other related departments throughout the store, primary responsibilities include: planning and executing food and nutrition wellness events (i.e. store tours, classes, community programs, etc.); delivering nutrition presentations; serving as a nutrition resource for customers and associates; and serving as a resource on issues related to nutrition, health, recipe development, ingredient labeling and food safety. The retail dietitian implements wellness activities for ShopRite and provides guidance on nutrition issues to all areas of the store.

Education/Certification:

• Bachelor’s degree with major in relevant field, such as nutrition, dietetics or food science, granted by a U.S. regionally accredited college or university
• Completion of a didactic program in dietetics and supervised practice program approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
• Registered Dietitian with active registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics; Certification/Licensure as required by state of practice
• Maintains dietetic registration and continuing education requirements
• Registered Dietitian Eligible candidates will be considered with the Membership dictating the timeframe required to pass the exam

• Ability to represent an “all foods fit” mindset, understanding that you represent ShopRite Supermarkets as a whole
• Ability to evaluate programs using the appropriate measures of success
• Knowledge of basic computer programming and ability to learn new technical skills
• Participate in media opportunities, including but not limited to social media photos and videos and TV segments

Job Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

General:

• Greet all Customers and provide them with prompt, courteous service and assistance
• Knowledgeable of “health and wellness” focused products carried in the store
• Understand demographics of Associate, Customer and Community bases so as to tailor nutrition and health messages to satisfy their needs and interests
• Coordinates and conducts in-store wellness programs such as store tours with emphasis on healthful eating and other needs (i.e. diabetes, weight management, child nutrition, etc.)
• Resource for customer and associate questions and concerns related to nutrition and food safety
• Partners with pharmacy to offer disease-specific nutrition education programs
• Supports cooking demonstrations in conjunction with store-specific culinary programs
• Participates in planning and executing nutrition outreach in the community and in-store wellness events
• Fosters relationships with local business, schools and healthcare facilities to partner providing nutrition education both in and outside of the store
• Monitors issues and trends with respect to health and wellness, regarding food products and labeling
• Complete all applicable department training programs including HIPAA and food safety
• Comply with all social media policies, including working with local media specialist to create posts on various platforms
• Perform other duties as assigned

Associate:

• Manage Associate wellness initiatives by promoting, scheduling, executing and measuring success of programs
• Monthly Associate Wellness Day
• 6-week associate wellness challenge
• Lunch and learns
• Provides content for company newsletter (if applicable)
• Associate health events/fairs
• Weight loss challenges or classes
• One-on-one consultations

Customer:

• Coordinate Customer education initiatives and programs
• Store tours focused on a variety of health topics
• Kid-focused nutrition events (cooking classes, store tour)
• Produce Pick and Seafood Catch of the week demos
• Partnering with Pharmacy to offer health screenings
• Culinary Workshop, in applicable stores
• Serves as a resource for questions and concerns related to nutrition information and products
• One-on-one consultations
• Meals Made Well weekly recipe demo
• Eat Well. Be Happy. 6-week weight management series
• Diabetes Program

Community:

• Participate in planning and executing nutrition outreach in the community
• Partner with local hospitals and doctors offices to promote the dietitian’s services
• Participate in community health fairs
• Partner with schools to provide nutrition education
• Partner with local businesses such as corporations or fitness centers to offer nutrition education, advertisement and other partnership opportunities
• Doctor Detailing alongside the in-store pharmacist to promote Health and Wellness Team services

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $29.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
