JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: Asset Protection/Store Detective

Department: Operations - 712

Supervised by: Asset Protection Manager

This is a full-time non-union position. 40 hours per week Sunday - Saturday. Must be available to work 5 days including weekends and holidays. Hours to be determined. Must be willing to travel to other locations if needed.

Position Description:

· Work undercover in assigned stores, with a primary focus on the detection and apprehension of shoplifters

· Monitor surveillance cameras and walk around the store observing customers, associates, and vendors, remaining hidden as possible

· Appear in court on behalf of the company to ensure successful prosecution of apprehended subjects

· Work with all levels of management and associates to ensure the protection of company assets

· Maintain a positive relationship with local authorities in matters relating to company business

· Assist the Compliance Coordinator in the investigation of personal injury accidents for Customers and Associates with the use of the CCTV systems

· Help maintain a safe workplace for all customers, associates, and vendors

· Utilize company specific Asset Protection applications for investigations and reporting

· Bring loss vulnerabilities existing in any assigned stores, along with recommendations, to the attention of Store Management and Asset Protection Manager

· Assist with training new hires in the field of asset protection when called upon

· Conduct store audits to identify procedural differences or problematic areas when called upon

· Maintain good communication with Store Management throughout the company and Asset Protection Manager

· Provide exceptional customer service by addressing customer concerns and inquiries while upholding a professional and approachable demeanor

· Comply with ShopRite of Hunterdon County’s Purpose, Vision, Mission, Values and Service Priorities

· Perform other duties and assignments as directed by the Asset Protection Manager

Requirements:

Necessary Skills and Qualifications

1. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing maintaining strict confidentially

2. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision

3. Ability to make critical decisions quickly and effectively

4. Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a scheduled shift

5. Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift 25lbs., and occasionally lift 50lbs

6. Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously

7. Ability to react to stressful situations in a professional and calm manner complying with de-escalation guidelines provided by the employer

8. Organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work

9. Must be able to pass a criminal background check

10. Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays

11. Experience in loss prevention preferred, but not a requirement

12. Must possess a high school diploma/GED

13. Must be willing to travel to other stores if needed

14. Must possess a valid driver’s license

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
