SUMMARY

Reporting to the Production Manager, this role is an on-site, full-time, hourly position with availability for overtime and Saturdays when necessary. The CNC Tech must be a strong team player with a positive attitude, willing to take direction as well as be a self-starter and enjoys working in a creative, problem solving, and fast-paced manufacturing environment.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS may include but are not limited to:
Set up and operate CNC routers
Inspect the machinery and product for quality assurance
Works safely in a fabrication shop environment; handle material appropriately
Work with other team members and Shield leadership to identify and resolve issues in real time
Maintain a positive attitude and help the team find solutions even when faced with stressful situations and challenging people
Submit time sheets, PTO requests, and all other necessary forms and communication on time and accurately
Fulfill other production and shop related duties assigned as needed
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Ability to set up and operate CNC routers
Knowledge of general machining practices and techniques
Knowledge of reading and interpreting blueprints
Knowledge of fractions, decimals, units, as well as basic geometry
Ability to use various measuring tools
Understanding of tooling and work holding fixtures
Knowledge of material identification and functions of those materials
Ability to comprehend and retain information, executing as directed
Can work independently, but knows when to stop and ask questions
Ability to successfully execute projects on tight deadlines and to perform at high levels in a fast paced and ever-changing work environment
Reliable in attendance, quality, and communication
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
3 years of experience setting up and operating CNC routers is preferred but not required
Casework, furniture or cabinet building experience preferred

The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
The employee must be able to stand for extended periods of time
Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
Employee must be able to talk and hear

Due to our onsite and remote Fabrication and/or Installation processes, the work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, employees may be exposed to hot and/or cold conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. Adherence to company safety policies are mandatory.
