Shelter House Iowa is Hiring an Employment and Housing Case Manager Near Iowa, IA

Description

Housing is a human right, and no one believes that more than you. Housing Case Managers work doggedly every day to ensure folks in our community can get around external barriers to get into their homes.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Key Responsibility 1 (40% of time): Provide individualized employment support for program participants by assisting in the completion of applications, resumes, and cover letters to apply for mainstream employment opportunities.

So That:

  • Support program participants in developing short-term and long-term employment planning via career counseling and referrals to educational and vocational programs.
  • You form strong relationships with other vocational services in the community and provide appropriate referrals.
  • You supervise daily computer lab(s) including support to clients and volunteers.
  • Provide follow-up to ensure employment for Housing Stability participants.
  • Work within Employment Team and provide support to other employment programs as needed.

2. Key Responsibility 2 (30% of time): Assist clients in locating housing options and accessing mainstream benefits.

So That:

  • Assist program participants in locating and applying for housing.
  • Aid program participants in financial budgeting and saving money for housing.
  • Identify program participants that may need additional assistance from the Rapid Rehousing Program.
  • Assist program participants in applying for mainstream benefits such as Medicaid, SNAP, etc. and obtaining identifying documents.

3. Key Responsibility 3 (20% of time): Build relationships with area employers, employment agencies, service providers, landlords, and property managers. Work within a case management team.

So That:

  • A trauma-informed workplace is achieved and maintained demonstrating a balance of kindness, competence, and care toward self, others with whom we work, and those for whom we provide care.
  • You respond to participant, employer, and landlord concerns in a timely manner.
  • You maintain a high-level of professionalism in community settings.
  • You demonstrate a high-level of advocacy for program participants within community settings both private and public.
  • You build positive relationships with community partners to ensure a high-level of collaboration to best serve program participants.
  • You attend and are actively engaged in required agency meetings, such as all-staff/department meetings, and actively attend/engage in required trainings.

4. Key Responsibility 4 (10% of time): Accurately record client data and statistics including: outcome measures, goals, objectives, and grant-specific requirements for those respective federal and local grants; maintain all client records, files, and reports to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and security; improve outcomes.

So That:

  • You obtain and maintain the appropriate licensure to access Service Point: Homeless Information Management System.
  • Confidentiality in client information is always maintained.
  • Intake and exit procedures are thoroughly conducted in a timely manner, including any relevant program record keeping programs, Service Point documentation and other agency-required paperwork.
  • Appropriate program forms pertinent to client information and confidentiality are organized, as complete as possible, and secure.
  • You complete other duties as assigned by the Rapid rehousing Program Manager.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  1. Knowledge, skills and abilities consistent with a Bachelor's degree in a Human Service related field, or minimum three years related experience.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge and experience with area services, community partners, and resources.
  3. Commitment to operating within a trauma-informed workplace that demonstrates a balance of kindness, competence, and care toward self, colleagues, and populations served.
  4. Proficiency in Windows-based computer environment and Microsoft Office Suite.
  5. Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  6. Possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to get to and from work shifts.
  7. The ability to life 25 libs., sitting, and standing for extended periods of time.
