We have a great opportunity for a full time experienced Controller. This is an onsite management position.

The salary rate offered for this position will depend upon the candidates years of experience as a Controller, Accounting Experience, education and skill set.

Job Summary: Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Controller is responsible for leading and managing the day-to-day accounting, financial and payroll functions of the organization. The Controller is responsible for the accurate and timely production of the financial statements of the organization. This position provides budgetary and contract management oversight; responsible for preparation and monitoring of operating and grant contract budgets; financial reports for internal management and external agencies; establishes and maintains internal controls policies and procedures. The Controller works closely with CFO, Senior Leadership team and related Board of Directors Committees, as relevant.

Responsibilities:

· Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department and activities which include ensuring that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) as well as organization's financial principals, practices and procedures.

· Establish (in coordination with CFO) financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on monthly, quarterly and annual basis.

· Responsible for performing the month end transactions to include reconciling the general ledger accounts.

· Prepare and organize monthly financial statements for record and review.

· Prepare quarterly and annual financial reports.

· Manage quarterly/annual budgets and forecasts

· Monitors funding sources and prepares reports for funding agencies.

· Works with Revenue Cycle department to run reports, analyze and reconcile visits and payments.

· Pulls reports and uses data from company EHR systems, PM and electronic billing system to assist in financials and forecasting.

· Evaluates organization and grant budgets to identify cost reductions and efficiency improvements.

· Ensures maximized use of restricted funding for each grant, program and contract.

· Advises business unit leadership on and assists with implementation of accounting and budgeting policies, budget variance analysis, direction and support in relevant financial operations

· Enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures and workflows.

· Develops accounting processes that streamline functions within the department

· Delegates responsibilities and duties to the accounting team, providing instructions and training as needed

· Educates direct reports of regarding regulatory changes as relevant

· Manage payroll and maximize payroll efficiency through process development

· Establishes and monitors direct reports performance and development goals, assigns accountabilities, sets objectives, establishes priorities, measures performance and evaluates results.

· Develops documentation of all accounting processes and has trained a back-up for all critical positions

· Serves as a back-up for AP, AR and Payroll when needed

· Responsible for direction and coordination of all final audits

· Assists with other organization audits including retirement, insurance and Operational Site Visit (OSV)

· Assists with regulatory filings including UDS, OSHPD, Cost Reports, PPS Reconciliations, SAC, BPR and others

· Maintains fixed assets, coordinating a system of taking an annual fixed asset inventory with facilities and IT.

· Plans, coordinates and improves financial operations

· Ensures compliance with federal requirements associates with grant funding, including Office of Management and budget (0MB) Circular A-133, Audits of States, Local Governments and Non-Profit Organizations; Circular 1-122, cost Principles for Nonprofit Organizations; Education, Hospitals, and other Non-profit Institutions

· Works in partnership with other management teams on special tasks/projects, as needed

· Complies with organizational policies and procedures

· Perform other duties, as assigned

·Ability to compose routine reports and correspondence.

Supervisory Duties:

· Provide leadership and direction to the accounting team, fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement with accountability and excellence in delivery.

· Daily oversight of the accounting department team and ensure that all tasks are completed accurately and on time

· Provide training and development to the team.

· Schedules team work hours, approves time and attendance in payroll system.

· Responsible for interviewing, hiring, onboarding, job training, performance evaluation and counseling processes.

· Reduces employer risk through compliance with HR practices and policies, including non-harassment and non-discrimination.

Education/Experience:

· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

· Minimum of 3 years professional experience as Controller or Senior level accounting manager with financial reporting, accounting, payroll, budgeting and staff management.

· 7 years progressive accounting experience with all phases of accounting, month end process, budgets, reporting and payroll functions

· Accounting/Finance experience in Healthcare ; Non-profit ; FQHC setting strongly preferred.

· Experienced in cost accounting and risk management

· Proficiency in budgets, financials and forecasting.

· Proficiency in Accounting/Financial systems and other financial software's; MIP Accounting System, MIP Cloud a plus

· Advanced knowledge of Excel and ability to utilize Microsoft Office applications;

· ADP Workforce Now Payroll experience or similar platform; experience and knowledge of CA labor laws and payroll practices.

· Experience with EHR System, Practice Management and electronic medical billing strongly preferred.

· Technology savvy with knowledge of accounting software and reporting systems

· Able to manage conflict in a direct and professional manner

· Strong understanding of banking processes and financial data analysis

· Ability to gather and analyze data in order to produce reports and to develop and implement improvements or recommendations

· Proven ability to work with a variety of management in providing financial analysis.

· Ability to make decisions and execute timely in order to produce positive outcomes

· Demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and education for job functions

· Demonstrates broad knowledge of accounting principles and practices

· Adheres to and complies with company policies and procedures

· Ability to operate as an effective tactical as well as strategic thinker

· Demonstrated ability to research complex problems and develop cost effective solutions

· Strong mentoring, coaching experience to a team with diverse levels of expertise

· Superior management skills; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers

· Advanced ability to calculate figures and amounts such as ratios, rates, discounts, interest, allocations, proportions, and apply concepts of advanced math.
