Paychex is Hiring a Controller Near Newport, CA

Job Summary

The Controller will direct the company’s accounting functions, which includes setting up and maintaining budget, cost controls, financial analysis, accounting practices and reports. Prepares and evaluates financial reports and recommends system and financial performance improvement changes.

This position will have varying levels of complexity. The individual will have daily interaction with all levels of management, property managers, third party managers, investors, owners, tenants/residents and vendors.

Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Maintains accounting records and tracks company transactions and assets.
  • Prepare reports outlining the company’s financial position and develops the company’s major economic objectives and policies.
  • Supervises accounting staff and evaluates accounting personnel performance.
  • Evaluates the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the company through analysis and interpretation of statistical and accounting information.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state and local taxes.
  • Provides effective financial controls via budget and financial forecast preparation.
  • Facilitates the efficient completion of multiple projects.
  • Coordinates the completion of change requests and content updates in Yardi.
  • Schedules and participates in team meetings, documents meeting minutes and distributes to teams.
  • Travel may be required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills / Experience

 

  • Superior writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • CPA or Equivalent.
  • 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Expertise with most concepts and practices in all areas of finance.
  • Ability to use an extensive degree of experience and judgement in planning and accomplishing objectives
  • Minimum of 2 years in Property Management
  • Highly developed communication, presentation, facilitation and negotiation skills.
  • Experience coordinating multiple concurrent projects and adapting to changing priorities.
  • Broad knowledge of applications: MS365 platform, and Yardi.
  • Experience and/or personal interest in real estate/property management industry.
  • Valid driver’s license.
