SFI Health is Hiring an Analyst II, QC Sampling Near Reno, NV

SUMMARY

The Sampling Analyst II is responsible for scheduling and planning resources for sampling needs. This position is responsible for collecting samples of raw materials and in-process goods, as well as proper collection, processing and storage of all retained samples. This position will perform some in-house testing as requested and will be responsible for developing and maintaining reports for data collection and analysis. This role involves a combination of processing samples for third party laboratory testing and operational quality checks, ensuring that all materials meet quality standards.

The ideal candidate will possess exceptional analytical and time management skills, and a proactive approach to problem solving. This role requires the ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments and manage time sensitive documents with professionalism and courtesy to all staff.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Essential job functions:

  • Knowledge of and conformance to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs - 21 CFR 111 and 21 CFR 117) as applicable to the company operations, including:
    • Reads, learns, follows, and communicates Quality SOPs, PPE requirements and safety program.,
    • Train others on proper sampling techniques and proper GMP protocols. for such
  • Independently develop and maintain sampling schedules to ensure all expected materials are sampled timely.
  • Up to 50% of time may be scheduled on the manufacturing floor to perform operational sampling and line clearances as an Inspector II.

Sampling

  • Review receiving report and/or material specification sheet to determine sample quantity.
  • Prepare samples for testing using aseptic techniques and ensures the proper quantity for testing.
  • Properly log samples and ensure samples have correct labeling.
  • Maintain sampling rooms and surrounding area in GMP conditions.
  • Requests ATP testing and verification of cleaning of sample room

Inspecting

  • Collects and processes blending samples and other retention samples.
  • Private Labelling order review and release.
  • Batch Record review and release including review of MMR s, BOM's, deviations, etc.
  • Approves or rejects label and material disposition requests.
  • Coordinates disposition of materials, labels, or labelled bottles.
  • Component and label inspections.
  • Processing customer returns.
  • Reviews and releases order for manufacturing and packaging.

Reporting

  • Build, develop, maintain and regularly report on the performance of suppliers, materials and lines, with recommendations for continuous improvement.

Secondary job duties:

  • Assists with the following Plant Quality Control department functions, as needed:
    • Environmental monitoring.
    • Document Control and Label Control processes.
    • Identifies and reports non-conformance to Quality Control Manager and/or Quality management.
    • Investigations, Root Cause Analysis, internal audits.
    • Physical testing of raw materials and finished products.
    • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate’s degree, or some college experience preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Dietary Ingredients or Food safety environment, or a Laboratory environment.
  • Other experience in Quality Control will be considered as well.

Skills & abilities:

  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Ability to think independently and lead others towards successful outcomes.
  • Bi-lingual a plus.
  • Detail oriented, critical thinker.
  • Basic math skills and ability to process common microbiological laboratory acumen.

Computer skills:

  • Microsoft Excel Intermediate to advanced.
  • Experience with Power BI a plus.
  • SAP experience a plus.

OTHER INFORMATION

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • No direct reports.
  • This position does work with other departments and will require collaboration and influence skills.

Work Environment:

  • Requires ability to work in an environment that contains fumes, dust, odor, low-level noise and temperature and ventilation variations while wearing any appropriate safety and/or protective apparel (e.g., safety glasses, shoe covers, gloves, hair net, face mask, and lab coat).
  • While SFI strives for work-life balance, this position does require the majority of the hours worked to be physically present. Remote hours can be managed with direct supervisor.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand and walk long periods.
  • Position is not stationary, but requires mobility, including physical activities such as walking, lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, climbing, repetitive motion, and standing up to 8 hours per day.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.

Travel:

  • As requested, less than 5%

Career Path (Optional):

Optional path towards Inspector III or Analyst III. Long term growth for Operational QC Manager or QC Lab Manager is possible.

Pay: $22.00 - $23.00 DOE

Schedule: 7:30AM-4:00PM
