SF Demo - FMR LLC is Hiring a Senior Software Engineer/Developer Near Durham, NC

Job Description:

Position Description:

Develops and deploys software and implements Cloud-based solutions with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Azure. Crafts and implements operational data stores and warehouses in multi-site high availability environments using Snowflake and Master Data Management (MDM). Improves test coverage, software release velocity, and production health. Migrates databases and warehouses from on-premise to AWS Cloud. Documents process and data models in support of defined use cases. Provides business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

• Designs applications or subsystems on major projects and for/in multiple platforms.

• Develops applications for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.

• Implements all aspects of data engineering, analysis, data warehousing, data visualization, data integration, and relational database technologies.

• Supports and performs all phases of testing leading to implementation.

• Assists in the planning and conducting of user acceptance testing.

• Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications supporting several corporate initiatives.

• Responsible for post-installation testing of any problems.

• Establishes project plans for projects of moderate scope.

• Works on complex assignments and often multiple phases of a project.

• Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several initiatives.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and scalable data capabilities using distributed data technologies within a financial services environment.

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and one (1) year of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and scalable data capabilities using distributed data technologies within a financial services environment.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) designing, developing, and automating data pipelines for integration into AWS using Python, Shell Script, and NodeJS; and performing application log collecting for high volume data processing and monitoring using Elastic Search, Splunk, and Datadog.

  • DE implementing operational data stores and warehouses in multi-site high availability environments using Snowflake and MDM; scheduling jobs in Control-M for Python and SQL scripts; monitoring data processing using Data Dog; developing and deploying software delivery pipelines within a Cloud native infrastructure; and performing automated and manual load testing using Postman and Apache JMeter.

  • DE developing automatic data pipelines to enable real-time streaming for data integration between internal and external systems using open-source messaging technologies – Kafka; and building REST APIs for data access, messaging, and transfer across applications using Python, Active MQ, AWS SQS, and Kafka.

  • DE designing, developing, and building microservices applications using Python, Jenkins, and GIT; deploying and testing microservices applications using Artifactory, POSTMAN, Junit, and Oracle SQL; designing and developing Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines in Jenkins, Git, Python, Shell scripting, Docker, Kubernetes, and Maven; and deploying Cloud compliant applications to AWS and Azure.
