Job Description
- Calculate complete takeoff of scope of work
- Solicit pricing from qualified vendors and subcontractors.
- Assist in the leveling of subcontractor and vendor bids.
- Develop a holistic strategy for each project from concept to construction. Determine areas for self-perform trades, material selection and areas for value engineering. Support the self-perform groups, materials team and manufacturing team with project information, quantities, submittal information and delivery sequencing.
- Assist in the management of a centralized cost estimating database and a formal process to support cost estimating to ensure historical data is utilized.
- Provide improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs.
- Identify cost trends to assist company in cost reduction and process improvement efforts.
- Required Skills & Experience
- 2-5 years of experience in the construction industry, preferably in multi-family Industry.
- Knowledge and experience with Continuous Improvement and LEAN Construction methods.
- Passion for quality design and estimate completion.
- Strong skills with Xactimate, Plans, OnScreen Take-off, Revit, Assemble.
- Experience in estimating Roofing, Siding, Fire, Flood, large ground up and large renovations projects.
- Highly motivated self-starter with aspirations for career growth.
- Ability to work in a team environment with initiative to execute on self-guided, special initiative projects.
- Drive towards results, ability to proactively identify risks and escalate effectively.
- Strong verbal, written and graphic communication skills, ability to effectively work and communicate across large cross-functional teams.
- Excellent problem solver, and communicator.
- Flexibility to evolve with various tasks and directions as new projects and initiatives unfold.
