Sent Church - The Children's Ark is Hiring an Assistant Director (FT) Near Plano, TX

Requirements:
Education/Work Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in early childhood education-related field or equivalent work experience in a related area or a combination of education and job-relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of classroom experience is required.
  • Management experience required; one year of experience over a minimum of 6 employees.
Specialized Training and/or Licensing:
  • Any licenses, certificates, or specialized training that are required by state law or regulatory agencies. For example CDA, CPR, ECE units, law enforcement clearance, etc.
General Overview of Job:
Assist the Director in:
  • Managing delivery of quality early childhood education program to pre-school age children with oversight over The Children’s Ark plus extended care for children up to age 12.
  • Providing training and resources for teachers to enable them to effectively teach a Christ-centered curriculum that helps kids (infants through 6th grade) become more like Jesus.
  • Establishing a positive working relationship with teachers and staff, supporting and encouraging daily.
  • Building enrollment to operate the center at capacity.
  • Establishing positive and ongoing communication with parents.
  • Implementing Christ-centered curriculum and program philosophy; ensuring facility maintenance, overseeing all operational functions of the programs, and demonstrating knowledge of and implementation of legal regulations and standards, striving to be an exemplary center.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Facilities Management:
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulatory agency codes.
  • Ensure safe, clean, and clutter-free conditions for children, parents, and employees by supervising maintenance and cleanliness for building equipment, grounds, and vehicles.
  • Establish and maintain a yearly timeline of regular maintenance and repairs. Work with Property Manager to determine scope, sequence, and plan for the execution of services.
  • Assume accountability for center assets.
  • Ensure appropriate room arrangement/space design that supports safe and effective use of space.
  • Investigate upgrade of classrooms and future use implications.
  • Oversee/maintain video surveillance/intercom systems
  • Ensure appropriate food service
  • Supervise van maintenance:
    • Maintain records on each van.
    • Supervise and train van drivers.
Marketing:
  • Implement effective advertising strategy for programs (including signs, banners, van ads, social media, schools, website, Facebook, etc.)
  • Update website with current events, news, forms, and program highlights
  • Evaluate the center’s effectiveness as measured by formal and informal parental feedback (through surveys and other means) and financial results; determine and implement solutions to problems as needed.
  • Promote the center through community involvement; promote a positive image of the center’s educational and operational programs. 
  • Respond positively to enrollment inquiries with the goal of acquiring new families. Put prospective family information into SmartCare as a “lead” and ensure timely follow-up.
  • Evaluate enrollment, assess openings, and communicate transitions of children to the next classroom to the Director and teachers involved.
Business:
  • Understand and use operational and financial reports to support the achievements of the center’s financial goals.
  • Conducts regular reviews of tuition rates in relation to economy and market to ensure competitive and cost-effective rates
  • Review family accounts weekly, send past-due notices when payment is one day late, assess late charges, and report results to the Director.
  • Bill drop-ins immediately. Notify the Director and the teacher of the class impacted.
  • Manage labor costs while maintaining appropriate staffing ratios.
  • Audit time cards; submit payroll to Director for approval, then to the Business Manager for processing.
  • Ensure cost-effective purchase and use of food, supplies, and equipment. Establish an inventory and timely purchasing system.
  • Manage accurate and complete financial expenditure reports
  • Collect approved tuition fees in an efficient and tactful manner; maintain weekly tuition recording/reporting summaries.
  • Identify federal, state, and local funding sources, both public and private; coordinate information with a supervisor. 
  • Continually increase attendance toward maximizing occupancy and revenue.
  • Meet with supervisor weekly to discuss operations.
  • Maintain an effective childcare accounting system and payment system.
  • Conduct regular review of CCS reports.
Successful Performance will be evidenced by:
  • High associate satisfaction scores (instrument will need to be developed to collect this data).
  • High parent loyalty scores (survey will need to be developed to collect this data; retention rates will be utilized).
  • Effective capacity utilization (as evidenced through enrollment numbers).
  • Educated and motivated associates with low turnover.
  • Profitable business.
  • Absence of licensing expectations.
  • High conversion of inquiries into customers.
Abilities and Skills (special abilities the position requires):
  • Work independently without close supervision.

  • Strong tact and diplomacy; interact with and work cooperatively with children, parents, and staff.
  • Highly organized; ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments/projects.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and plan work under own initiative.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Provide leadership to staff by setting an example.
  • Proficient in spreadsheets, Google suite (calendar, docs, sheets, Gmail, etc.)
  • Experience with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
Spiritual Maturity:
  • To represent The Children’s Ark Christian Day Schooland Sent Church on and off the premises. As such, he/she is expected to live a lifestyle that reflects the doctrines and policies of the Sent Church. 
  • Maintain spiritual disciplines necessary for vibrant spiritual leadership.
  • Embody Ministry Practices and Statement of Ethics (see attachment).
