AmeriStars Best Care is Hiring an Assistant Preschool Director Near Plano, TX

We are looking for an Assistant Head of School who is an amazing leader, energetic, well-organized, and passionate about Early Childhood Education. The Assistant Head of School will help maintain/manage the program, staff scheduling, and curriculum observations, ensuring that the school exceeds all of the Texas minimum standards and upholds the school way of doing things. This position reports directly to the Head of School. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with flexible schedule availability between the hours of 7am and 6:30pm.

Assistant Head of School Responsibilities:

· Supporting the overall day-to-day operations of the center.

· Conducting monthly classroom observations and playground walks.

· Conducting classroom ratio checks throughout the day.

· Supporting policies, procedures, and systems to ensure a safe and healthy environment in compliance with the schools and State standards.

· Participating responsibly in marketing and special events including open houses and school events.

· Supporting change required for continual compliance, improvement, and success of the school.

· Recruiting, hiring, orienting, training, supervising, observing, and evaluating staff along with the Head of School.

· Managing, supporting, and following the budget in compliance with Franchisee guidelines.

· Comfortable creating school/home correspondence, flyers, forms, newsletters, etc.

· Representing the school to the public, community, parents, visitors, and staff with professionalism and integrity.

· Attending/participating in meetings and trainings as directed.

· Ensuring day-to-day operations comply with the quality standards of the school.

· Assuming major responsibility for staff schedules, labor budget, and staff file compliance.

· Accepting and handling change appropriately.

· Accepting instruction and direction in an appropriate manner.

· Working flexible hours between 7:00 am and 6:30 pm.

· Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

· Professional presentation and attitude.

· Ability to communicate (written and verbal) with, motivate others, analyze, and solve problems, fostering a positive work environment.

· Ability to interact closely with children at their level.

· Enforcing, understanding, and complying with the school’s employment policies.

· Ability to respond immediately to emergency situations.

· Motivated, self-starter, that takes direction well but also has an entrepreneur spirit.

· Tech Savvy: Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe. Comfortable with MAC.

· Able to attend monthly staff meetings that could last until 8:00 pm.

· Knowledge of childcare software such as ProCare, ASQ, Smore, Canva (preferred but not required).

· Effective leader and role model at the school.

· Strong leadership and conflict resolution skills.

· Detail-oriented.

· Ability to exercise appropriate, independent judgment calls.

· Sound knowledge of local, state, and federal childcare legislation.

· Knowledge of early child development and appropriate practices.

· Ability to ensure a safe, loving, learning environment for children.

Education and/or Experience:

· Minimum 3 years of previous teaching experience in a licensed childcare center.

· Minimum 2 years of previous Assistant Preschool Director/Assistant Head of School experience in a licensed childcare center.

· Minimum associate degree in child development or a related field preferred.

· Current CDA or Early Childhood Teaching Credential.

· 5 years in Early Childhood Education and willing to obtain a CDA.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

· Current Texas Driver's License required.

· Proof of auto liability insurance required.

Physical Demands:

· Frequent prolonged sitting, occasional walking, stooping, standing, and lifting of up to 25 pounds.
