The role of the Executive Director of Finance at Seminole Tribe of Florida Inc. (STOFI) is to ensure the long-term financial stability of the corporation. The Executive Director of Finance is responsible for directing, overseeing and coordinating the STOFI’s financial affairs, ensuring strict compliance according to financial principles and government regulations. The individual directs, implements and ensures effective financial policies and procedures and recommends changes and ideas to the Board of Directors in regard to policies, fiscal controls and profitability. The incumbent prepares, presents and interprets complex financial reports, identifies areas of opportunity and risk, and provides cost effective recommendations that will optimize shareholder value and maximize profitability while safeguarding the STOFI’s financial assets.
Master’s degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or Public Administration is required. A minimum of ten (10) years of experience working in finance, accounting, contracts, budgeting and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and automated financial reporting systems in a management capacity is required. A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the development and implementation of strategic plans is preferred. Thorough knowledge of GAAP and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB-34) governmental reporting requirements is required. Certification as Public Accountant (CPA) is required. Thorough knowledge and experience managing multiple types of governmental accounts, investments and assets, and providing financial markets analysis and reporting of financial data. Knowledge of and experience in the procurement of funds. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License is required. Demonstrate proficiency computer and software applications. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills required. Ability to travel and work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
