POSITION SUMMARY
Seattle Indian Health Board is seeking a Communications Content Associate to join our acclaimed Communications Team. As Content Associate, you'll write, revise, edit, and proof content for a variety of communications channels. In addition to stewarding our brand voice and maintaining our writing guidelines, you'll create content for our soon-to-be redeveloped websites and help ensure information on our websites stays up to date. As an employee of our community health center, you'll contribute directly to the holistic health of American Indian and Alaska Native people and on projects that have tangible impacts for Indigenous communities in Seattle/King County and nationwide.
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE/REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
This position reports directly to the Communications Content Manager and is a member of the Communications team. This position has no direct reports.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES, QUALIFICATIONS, AND EDUCATION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop content for websites, social media, e-newsletters, blogs, advertisements, and other digital channels.
  • Ability to adjust the tone and feel of copy depending on the format and audience.
  • Develop and maintain webpages with program information, descriptive webpage content, and other changes as assigned.
  • Copy edit content produced across the organization, including reports, grant applications, flyers, presentations, and other products.
  • Collaborate within the Communications Department and across divisions on projects and participate in planning sessions to develop communications plans and advise on best practices.
  • Ensure work is aligned with organizational strategic goals and long-term Communications Team goals.
  • Complete office tasks and provide general support for staff in the development and implementation of projects and ongoing communications efforts.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Excellent writing skills across a variety of styles and formats.
  • Interest in being part of a cultural workplace.
  • Proactive organization, prioritization, and note-taking skills.
  • Experience editing and proofreading according to specific editorial guidelines and style guides.
  • Familiarity with a variety of digital writing formats.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Experience working with WordPress, Constant Contact, or Mailchimp or willingness to learn.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms including Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and TikTok or willingness to learn.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and willingness to learn other Microsoft apps.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at once in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to take direction from more than one person.
  • Willingness to receive and respond to constructive feedback.
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
DESIRED SKILLS
  • Lived or direct working experience in American Indian and/or Alaska Native communities or organizations.
  • Project management training and experience.
  • Background in content marketing.
  • Photography, videography, and/or video editing skills
  • Experience with Loomly, Hootsuite, or similar social media management platforms.
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook and SharePoint.
  • Google Analytics experience or certification (or willingness to obtain).
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Degree in Communications, Creative Writing, English, American Indian Studies, or other relevant fields.
  • One to three years of experience in communications or a related field.
Work Environment: Office hours are currently 4-10 work schedule worked between Monday-Friday. The position requires all work to be performed on-site. Not eligible for remote work.
