Seattle Childrens Hospital is Hiring a Research Associate I - Bench Near Seattle, WA

Responsibilities

Tuberculosis remains the largest cause of death from a bacterial infection with >1 million deaths in 2023.

The Parish Lab works on understanding the biology of the causative agent, Mycobacterium tuberculosis and discovering and developing novel drugs for tuberculosis.

We are looking for a research associate to work on our tuberculosis drug discovery projects. Work will encompass a range of activities including compound handling and preparation using robotics, maintenance of bacterial cultures, running phenotypic assays, assisting with microbiological and cellular assays, data handling using a variety of computer software and laboratory information systems, recording procedures, outcomes and observations, and troubleshooting. Work with Mycobacterium tuberculosis under Biosafety Level 3 conditions will be required.

General Duties:Maintaining supplies and inventory.Preparation of media and reagents.Maintenance of eukaryotic and bacterial cultures and stocks.Maintaining laboratory equipment.Maintaining laboratory inventory and ordering supplies.Maintaining accurate laboratory notebook entries.

Specific Duties:Running microbiological and cellular assays including cytotoxicity and anti-tubercular activity.Perform laboratory procedures as part of ongoing research projects. Performing the required experiments, making detailed observations, analyzing data, interpreting results, and assisting in planning experiments as appropriate.

Requirements

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in microbiology, biochemistry, immunology, or related field.
  • Minimum one (1) year of laboratory research experience.

Preferred:

  • - Previous experience with techniques in microbiology or molecular biology- Familiarity with computers, including data entry and spreadsheets- Experience analyzing data using spreadsheets and statistical analysis.- Knowledge of basic microbiology - Knowledge of software applications, proficiency using MS Office and ability to learn new software programs

Min to Max Hourly Salary

$21.94 - $32.90 /hr

Min to Max Annual Salary

$45,635.20 - $68,432.00 /yr

Salary Information

This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
