PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Pharmacy Technician will support the operations of the FWA department under supervision of the FWA Auditor. This position will review and analyze a wide variety of pharmacy records against SCL client’s pharmacy claims data to ensure accuracy. They will participate and represent clients in conducting and reporting the results of onsite pharmacy audits. This position will report directly to the FWA Auditor. 

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review pharmacy records against submitted claims data to identify potential discrepancies
• Assist in all aspects of the claims audit process 
• Access pharmacy documentation for accuracy using federal and state laws, standards of pharmacy practice, and specific client instructions. 
• Communicate with pharmacies to ensure proper billing activity, claims data verification and request claim adjustments as needed which includes, but not limited to: (1) Conduct outbound calls to pharmacies verifying claim accuracy and support billing adjustments, and (2) Follow-up with pharmacies by faxing and emailing related documents
• Select claims for desk and on-site audits 
• Send audit letters and requests to pharmacies via fax and email
• Receive audit documents via fax and email and file appropriately
• Ensure confirmation calls are made to pharmacies prior to scheduled audit date
• Report audit results and findings to clients
• Prepare reports, participate in special projects, provide problem resolution and other activities to support the provider auditing process
• Assists with all types of audits in a professional and respectful manner
• Assist and support ad hoc requests as deemed pertinent by FWA Auditor, as to not conflict with current roles and responsibilities 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Texas State Board Pharmacy Technician license required; national certification preferred but not required 
• 2 years of experience in retail pharmacy
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Strong knowledge of the pharmacy practices; including statutory laws, regulations, and methods of filling and filing prescriptions

• Able to work independently with minimal direction and work collaboratively across SCL departments
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and industry related software platforms
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn a must
