Controller Job Description: The Controller position here at Schulson Collective will report directly to the CFO. They are responsible for overseeing Schulson Collecitve's finanical operations, ensuring accuracy, compliant & efficiency in financial reporting and accounting practices.
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or other applicable accounting standards.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and manage the organization's budgeting process, working closely with department heads to establish financial goals and projections. Monitor actual performance against budget and provide variance analysis.
Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making, including profitability analysis, cost analysis, and trend analysis. Provide insights and recommendations to improve financial performance.
Internal Controls: Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets, ensure the integrity of financial information, and comply with regulatory requirements. Conduct periodic audits to assess the effectiveness of internal controls.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and accounting standards. Stay abreast of changes in accounting regulations and implement necessary changes in financial reporting practices.
Cash Management: Manage cash flow and liquidity to meet the organization's operating and investment needs. Develop cash flow forecasts and monitor cash balances to optimize cash utilization.
Tax Planning and Compliance: Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of tax returns. Develop tax strategies to minimize the organization's tax liabilities while maintaining compliance with tax laws.
Financial Systems: Oversee the implementation and maintenance of financial systems and software to support efficient and accurate financial reporting and analysis.
Team Leadership: Manage and mentor the accounting and finance team, providing guidance and support to ensure their professional development and performance.
