Description

The School District of La Crosse is accepting applications for a 1.0 FTE Regular Education Teacher Assistant at Logan High School beginning in the 2023-2024 school year. Projected start date: August 28, 2023Required abilities: Understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Learn and utilize basic methods of procedures to be followed in the classroom and the Library Media Center. Demonstrate understanding of and enthusiasm for the students. Use correct and appropriate language with students. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with students and staff. Maintain cooperative working relationships with students and staff. Participate in workshops, etc., that will benefit the specific subject or job assignment. Learn and utilize special procedures unique to the assignment, such as crisis intervention techniques, basic first aid methods, and sign language.Position responsibilities: Assist with the supervision of students. Perform a variety of regular clerical duties such as filing, word processing, copying, and preparing instructional materials for teachers. Operate a variety of instructional media, office and program equipment including software programs. Help students use computers efficiently. Work with students (individually and in groups) in classroom and LMC settings. Complete additional tasks as requested by administrators. Provide a safe and quiet educational environment. Assist students with technology troubleshooting. Teach students organization and study skills. Assist students with testing, including the reading of tests. Assist with communication between students, teachers, and families.Applicants are requested not to contact or send application materials to individual building principals. Qualifications

Required qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Two years of education beyond high school or 48 post high school credits preferred. In lieu of post high school education, acceptable proficiency scores for WorkKeys ACT assessment is required. Some paid or volunteer experience working with children in an educational or child care setting, or any combination of training and experience that could likely provide the knowledge and abilities for job assignment. Word processing skills and basic computer knowledge required and bookkeeping abilities helpful. Knowledge of various office equipment. Knowledge of A.V. equipment and its use.
