Description
The School District of La Crosse is accepting applications for a .40 FTE Chinese Teacher teaching two periods per day at Logan High School beginning in the 2024-2025 school year. Projected start date: August 27, 2024
Wisconsin Certification 1349 required.
Prefer applicants possessing the following qualifications:
  • Excellence in the ability to speak standard Mandarin Chinese.
  • Excellence in the ability to teach Mandarin to non-heritage learners of Chinese.
  • Excellence in the teaching of Chinese phonetics using the Pinyin system of Romanization.
  • Willingness to use technology to enhance classroom instruction.
  • Willingness to assist and/or organize student and/or teacher exchanges.
Major responsibilities include:
  • Develop and plan proficiency-based activities, lesson plans and/or individual educational plans.
  • Conduct classroom instruction based on established curriculum.
  • Monitor student performance and behavior and take appropriate action.
  • Integrate technology into teaching.
  • Participate in parent/teacher conferences. Interpret student strengths, weaknesses and/or problems a student may be experiencing in the classroom.
  • Collaborate with other staff in evaluating individual student problems, approach to instructional units, and new teaching technologies or procedures available.
  • Develop proficiency-based assessments in the modes of interpretive listening and reading, presentational speaking and writing, and interpersonal speaking/writing, as well as determine scores following the standards-based grading
method.
  • Maintain and provide accurate records as required.
  • Participate in curriculum review, staff development and/or training, and keep abreast of information in the field of education.
  • Complete additional tasks as required by administrators.
