Scenario A Cockram Company is Hiring a Scenic Painter Near Orlando, FL

Objective

Responsible for working with Scenic Team in the laying out, priming, painting, texturing, sculpting, detailing of all scenic items pertaining to natural environment components and backdrops. To accurately represent the desired look and feel of the overall artistic integrity of the project and provide an excellent finished product representing the skills and capabilities held by the company.

Duties and Responsibilities

Level II: 2-3 years’ experience working in the theming industry as a scenic artist.

  • Responsible for adhering to all Company and Project safety programs, policies, and procedures as well as all Federal, State, and local safety codes and regulations.
  • Applied expertise of product specifications and usage and applied craftsmanship in the painting and the application of scenic color treatments upon various mediums (plaster, sculptable epoxies, FRP, GFRC, etc.) to emulate the natural environment components and artwork requirements provided by the Client for specific project.
  • Competent to mix colors,
  • Skilled ability to perform theme paint techniques such as washes, glazes, textures, spatters, create wood grain, metal, aging.and clear coating.
  • Ability to understand client renderings, ideations, intent, and paint drawdowns.
  • Working with urethanes, water based, oil based, stains, lacquers, epoxies, etc.
  • Use of industry-standard tools and equipment including spray guns, airless sprayers, sanders, grinders, power washer.
  • Prep, setup, and cleanup of paint operations to include cleaning of tools, spoils and debris.
  • Assist in organization and maintenance of workspaces and tools.
  • Load, unload, and move material within or near the laydown yard or jobsite.
  • Perform tasks in repetition to meet deadlines.
  • Assists in the creation of samples and/or models as needed by specific projects.

Level III: 3 years’ extensive knowledge and work experience in the theming industry as a scenic artist.

In addition to above:

  • Full scale Scenic & Theming finish.
  • Ability to creating wood, metal, and aging/distressing of most things.
  • Extensive knowledge of product specifications and usage and applied craftsmanship in the painting and the application of scenic color treatments upon various mediums (plaster, sculptable epoxies, FRP, GFRC, etc.) to emulate the natural environment components and artwork requirements provided by the Client for specific project.
  • Orders paint, art materials, tools, and equipment; keeps inventory of same.
  • Trains others in specialized procedures and techniques.

Qualifications / Experience/ Skills and Attributes

  • Previous experience in construction or capable of highly physical work
  • Strong knowledge of painting machinery and techniques.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and knowledge of painting techniques.
  • Ability to absorb and reproduce techniques and procedures using approved materials and tools.
  • Strong time management and planning skills.
  • Ability to be punctual and dependable.
  • Display willingness to learn new skills and painting methods.
  • A personal value system demonstrably consistent with organizational values
  • Show proper care and respect for personal and company tools and materials.
  • Must be enthusiastic, hardworking, desire to learn and ready to share their knowledge.

Work Conditions / Schedule

  • While performing the duties of this job, this is an in-field position and hours will be determined by the Superintendent (based on daylight hours and project needs).
  • Work environment will change often and will require consistent awareness of surroundings and potential dangers to themselves and others.
  • May be required to work under extreme environmental conditions and work from excessive heights with high reach equipment and/or scaffolding elevation

Physical Requirements: The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. with assistance from others or lifting devices from floor to waist and waist to floor.
  • Ability to walk, stand, hear, see in order to reasonably perform essential job functions for prolonged period of time.
  • Abilities include drag, pull, lift, push, bend, kneel, climb, overhead work, torque, and other repetitive motions.
  • Must have agility and a good sense of balance, willing to work in high places.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
