Status : Regular, full-time, exempt Salary : $67,808 (License-eligible with ASW, IMFT ) $80,000 (Licensed LCSW, MFT) Schedule : Office hours consist of Monday to Friday from 11 : 30 a.

Through comprehensive and coordinated initiatives focused on the areas of child well-being, youth development, family wellness, and community engagement, SBCS responds to the needs of the community with a strengths-based approach, serving more than 50,000 clients each year.

SBCS’s Casa Nuestra is the emergency housing component of a continuum of existing prevention and intervention services. Casa Nuestra will be available to youth who have either been arrested and / or referred to San Diego County’s Alternatives to Detention (ATD) or the Community Assessment Team or Juvenile Diversion (CAT / JD), as well as homeless youth referred by community entities (e.

g., churches, schools) or youth on Probation (Ward). Responsibilities : The YPI Mental Health Specialist will be responsible for providing trauma-informed mental health services to YPI clients residing at Casa Nuestra.

In addition this position will support the mental health needs of youth enrolled in CAT, ATD, or Achievement center as needed and feasible, pending caseload.

Under the supervision of the Program Director & Department Director, the YPI Mental Health Specialist is responsible for crisis intervention, stabilization, and providing individual and group therapeutic services to youth and their families.

Services will be in keeping with agency goals, objectives, mission, and style and provided within a team framework The YPI Mental Health Specialist is responsible for working with the team in developing team goals and objectives and in meeting those goals and objectives, including but not limited to : Duties : Provide mental health assessments for identified youth and develop treatment plans including goals and objectives, in collaboration with other YFDAs.

Provide trauma-informed counseling services to program clients that may include individual, family, and / or group services.

Participate in Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings with other YPI team members. Maintain case records and client files in the Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) database as required by SBCS and its funding sources.

Appropriate coordination of contacts with other public and private organizations and individuals, as necessary to effectively serve clients.

Provide crisis intervention services, intakes, and referrals to services. Participation and assistance in implementing program components.

Other duties as assigned by the Department Director and / or Program Director. Requirements Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT), OR a license eligible counselor with a current Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW), or Marriage and Family Therapist Intern (IMFT) registration, or Board of Behavior Science (BBS) registration.

Minimum of 1 year of experience counseling youth with a history of justice or foster care-system involvement or other forms of trauma.

Experience in the areas of individual, group, and family counseling, gender-specific services, outreach, community education and development, advocacy and case management.

Ability to work with a diverse population, possess cultural sensitivity, and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients.

Ability to work in a very diverse setting with people of all backgrounds, culture, and orientation. Flexibility to provide clinical support at clients homes, Achievement Center, or other locations accessible to clients.

Knowledge of trauma informed care, cognitive based therapy, Positive Youth Development, and / or restorative practices is desired.

Demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness, and problem-solving skills. Conditions of Employment Employment may be conditioned upon satisfactory completion of certain background clearances which may include a Department of Justice criminal background check requiring my fingerprints (Live Scan), screening through the National Sex Offender Public Website, drug test (THC), tuberculosis (TB) test, and such additional clearances as may be required under the program.

Candidate is required to have reliable transportation; therefore, the candidate must successfully complete a motor history check.

Candidate must also possess and maintain a current valid California driver’s license and valid auto insurance policy. Physical demands : Mentally and emotionally : Ability to work under deadlines, various projects and dealing with clients in crisis and difficult situations.

Stand : Remaining on one’s feet in an upright position. Walking : Moving about on foot. Lifting : Raising or lowering an object from one level to another (includes upward pulling) 25-50 lbs.

Carrying : Transporting an object, usually holding it in the hands or arms, or on the shoulder Pushing : Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves away from the force.

Pulling : Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves toward the force (includes jerking) Climbing : Ascending or descending stairs, using feet and legs or hands and arms.

Body agility is emphasized. Balancing : Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching.

Stooping : Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist, requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.

Handling : Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands. Fingers are involved only to the extent that they are an extension of the hand.

Finger Movement : Picking, pinching, or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling.

Talking : Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Talking is important for those activities in which workers must impart oral information to clients or to the public, and in those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
