Status: Full-time

Salary: $85,000 annually for licensed therapists

$72,800 annually for unlicensed (BBS registered) therapist

Schedule: Monday through Friday: Schedule includes two evenings per week minimum.

SBCS' Children's Mental Health program offers a comprehensive array of outpatient therapeutic services for children and adolescents. Services include (1) individual therapy, (2) family therapy, (3) crisis intervention, (4) case management, (5) group therapy and (6) linkage to additional SBCS and community resources.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Children's Mental Health Licensed Clinician, under the supervision of the Children’s Mental Health Program Director and Department Director, is responsible for providing services to SBCS’ clients - both in the schools and the community. Services will be in keeping with agency goals, objectives, mission and style and provided within a team framework. Associates are responsible for working with the team in developing team goals and objectives and in meeting those goals and objectives.

DUTIES:

  • Conduct intakes, assessments, and treatment plans with clients.
  • Provide therapeutic, case management, and crisis intervention services to clients and their families.
  • Provide therapeutic services at the office, contracted schools and in the community. 
  • Communicate with other involved parties and agencies on a regular basis, including other resources available to clients.
  • Complete all required case file documentation in a timely and routine fashion.
  • Maintain client case files in accordance to County and Agency standards to include electronic medical records in County required databases.
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, individual supervision and clinical group supervision. 
  • Prepare monthly statistics for required County and Agency reports.
  • Adhere to agency and County client confidentiality, HIPAA, and mandated reporting policies. 
  • Participate in agency required trainings, staff meetings, and activities.
  • Maintain MFT/MSW intern number or license with the BBS.
  • Meet the minimum number of required billing units on a weekly basis as well as caseload size.
  • Assist with outreach to target population in order to effectively reach those in need of services.
  • Assist with implementing contractual and programmatic components.
  • As other duties assigned.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in psychology or related field.
  • Must be registered with the California BBS as an LMFT, LMSW, LPCC, LCSW, AMFT. APCC, or ACSW.
  • Own transportation, valid California driver’s license, bondable and insurable. 
  • Minimum 1 - 2 years of experience in child, youth and family services field. 
  • Experience should preferably have been in a community based or neighborhood service organization.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population, possess cultural sensitivity, and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients. 
  • Experience working with CCBH/Cerner highly recommended. 
  • Must be a fluent Spanish speaker with the ability to read and write in Spanish. \

Conditions of Employment

  • Employment may be conditioned upon satisfactory completion of certain background clearances which may include a Department of Justice criminal background check requiring my fingerprints (Live Scan), screening through the National Sex Offender Public Website, drug test, tuberculosis (TB) test, and such additional clearances as may be required under the program. 
  • Candidate is required to have reliable transportation; therefore, the candidate must successfully complete a motor history check. Candidate must also possess and maintain a current valid California driver’s license and valid auto insurance policy.(Approximately 5% - 10% of the time.)

  • Mentally and emotionally: Ability to work under deadlines, various projects and dealing with clients in crisis and difficult situations.
  • Stand: Remaining on one’s feet in an upright position. 
  • Walking: Moving about on foot. 
  • Lifting: Raising or lowering an object from one level to another (includes upward pulling) 25-50 lbs. 
  • Carrying: Transporting an object, usually holding it in the hands or arms, or on the shoulder 
  • Pushing: Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves away from the force. 
  • Pulling: Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves toward the force (includes jerking) 
  • Climbing: Ascending or descending stairs, using feet and legs or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. 
  • Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching.
  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist, requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles. 
  • Handling: Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands. Fingers are involved only to the extent that they are an extension of the hand.
  • Finger Movement: Picking, pinching, or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling. 
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Talking is important for those activities in which workers must impart oral information to clients or to the public, and in those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
