Program: Achievement Center

Status: Regular, full-time, exempt

Salary: $67,808 (License-eligible with ASW, IMF or Associate LPCC) Annual Salary

$80,000 (Licensed LCSW, MFT or LPCC) Annual Salary

Schedule: General operating hours are Monday - Friday: 11 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. Scheduled hours may vary to meet the various needs of the program.

The Achievement Center in Downtown San Diego is a safe and youth-friendly day community center. The Achievement Center allows youth (ages 12-18) and their families to receive treatment and services in the community, including case management, restorative practices, and evidence-based programming. The goal is to support youth in achieving their probation goals, avoiding detention, and making positive choices. The youth are currently on probation supervision or at risk of entering the justice system.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Youth Prevention & Intervention (YPI) Clinician will provide trauma-informed mental health services to youth in our YPI department receiving various services within the agency. Under the supervision of the Program Director, the YPI Clinician is responsible for providing individual and group therapeutic services to youth and their families. Services will be in keeping with agency goals, objectives, mission, and style and provided within a team framework, including but not limited to:


DUTIES:

  • Provide mental health services and assessments and create treatment plans, including goals and objectives, in collaboration with the YPI team.
  • Provide quality trauma-informed counseling services to program clients that may include individual, family, and/or group services.
  • Ongoing support and supervision of youth participating in programs.
  • Participate in Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings with other YPI team members.
  • Collect data, input case notes, and maintain case records and client files in the Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) database as required by SBCS and its funding sources.
  • Coordinate contacts with other public and private organizations and individuals, as necessary, to effectively serve clients.
  • Provide crisis intervention to clients as needed.
  • Participation and assistance in implementing program components.
  • Transport clients safely and securely in matters related to service delivery.
  • Attending all agency-required meetings and training.
  • As other duties assigned.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, or related with current BBS registration as LCSW, MFT, LPCC or ASW, Associate LPCC or IMF.
  • Experience in individual, group, and family counseling, outreach, community education and development, advocacy, and case management.

Conditions of Employment

  • Employment may be conditioned upon satisfactory completion of certain background clearances which may include a Department of Justice criminal background check requiring my fingerprints (Live Scan), screening through the National Sex Offender Public Website, drug test, tuberculosis (TB) test, and such additional clearances as may be required under the program.
  • Candidates/employees who have received a conditional offer of employment will be required to undergo testing for controlled substances, (including THC ), in accordance with the County of San Diego's drug and alcohol policy and the federal Controlled Substances Act.
  • Candidate is required to have reliable transportation; therefore, the candidate must successfully complete a motor history check. Candidate must also possess and maintain a current valid California driver’s license and valid auto insurance policy. (Approximately 60%)

Physical demands:

  • Mentally and emotionally: Ability to work under deadlines, various projects and dealing with clients in crisis and difficult situations.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position during shift.
  • Moves throughout the building.
  • Moves, raises, or lowers (includes upward pulling) an object or equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Transports an object, from 20 to 50 lbs. across the facility, for various needs.
  • Ability to exert force upon an object so that the object moves away from the force.
  • Ability to exert force upon an object so that the object moves toward the force (includes jerking)
  • Ascending or descending stairs and ladders when applicable. Body agility is emphasized.
  • Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when ascending, descending, traversing.
  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist, requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
  • Handling: Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with objects or office machinery.
  • Communicating: Expressing or exchanging ideas. Communicating is important for those activities in which workers must impart information to clients or to the public, and in those activities in which they must convey detailed or important instructions to other workers accurately, or quickly.
