The SARA, Inc. High Power Electromagnetics Division (HPEM) is looking for a remarkably talented, motivated, and imaginative Firmware Engineer to support research and development activities and transition innovative technologies to the DoD, DoE, and their contractors in Colorado Springs, CO. The candidate will have the opportunity to work with talented engineers, physicists, and technicians on long-standing programs and new programs supporting our customers. Our small group will allow the candidate to contribute and collaborate in a multidisciplinary nature from conception all the way through to operation.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and extend firmware in C for embedded applications
  • Create and modify Windows based interfaces in C# for system lab testing and configuration
  • Work closely with electrical/mechanical engineers, physicists, and firmware counterparts to ensure project milestones are meeting required specifications
  • Participate in the firmware development for both new products and enhancements for existing projects
    1. This includes comfortably working within the existing firmware ecosystem to maintain ongoing projects
  • Participate in board bring-up and debugging
  • Generate and maintain technical documentation as required during the course of product development
  • Support field testing and system deployment activities

Requirements:

  • 2 years of firmware experience
  • Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Engineering or related field
  • Experience with ARM Cortex-M microcontroller development
  • Experience with:
    1. C and C#
    2. Register level configuration and management of microcontroller peripherals
    3. Testing, debugging and integrating on embedded systems
    4. Debugging tools
    5. Reading electrical schematics
    6. Test equipment such as data acquisition systems, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers
  • Willingness to work in office with the exception of field test activities
  • Ability to obtain and maintain TS security clearance
  • US Citizenship
  • May require light physical effort, involving standing, sitting and use of hands while performing duties, carrying or lifting up to 25 pounds
  • Working environment is indoor, moderately quiet, reasonably clean, well-lighted and well-ventilated

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DoD TS security clearance
  • Experience with STM32 MCUs
  • Keil MDK
  • Visual Studio
  • Anti-Tamper Techniques
  • Cryptographic processes
  • Embedded bootloaders
  • DSP experience

Salary Range: $80,000 - $120,000
