Sany America is Hiring a Product Safety Engineer Near Peachtree, GA

The Opportunity

SANY America is looking to recruit a driven, forward-thinking, and highly motivated Product Safety Engineer. With the deep investment and backing of SANY Group, the Americas business expects to continue to grow significantly in the coming years. Critical to this growth is the appointment of a high-quality product safety engineer who can create, enhance, and drive product and process development of current and new products. He/she will be responsible for product compliance, safety, and liability and will be working closely with the product team, to deliver winning products. The role will require someone to build strong relationships with aftersales support, engineering, product management, and product marketing to ensure we are delivering quality products to market and meeting the operational goals of the business. Also critical to the role, will be ensuring that the product development process and execution supports the company’s overall strategy and goals. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

This role will work directly with the Sr. Director of Engineering to ensure effective product development is executed. This will require:

  • General product compliance, safety and liability – Understand industry best practices, processes, and requirements to develop short- and long-term strategies for products and the business.
  1. Membership and attendance with industry association groups to advise on new regulations and requirements coming within the industry.
  2. Participate in and conduct Incident investigations.
  3. Track product compliance and documentation.
  4. Advise on product recall notices and bulletins.
  5. Develop standard practices for risk assessments, safety labels, manuals, investigations, etc.
  • Support of current and future products – Lead and manage the development of new products for the U.S. Market, and work with the engineering team on suggested improvements to current products to facilitate market growth.
  1. Review product manuals and recommend improvements and changes.
  2. Review product safety labels and recommend improvements and changes.
  3. Perform product risk assessments.
  4. Lead the development and implementation of product safety practices into SANY New Product Introduction processes.
  5. Develop standards for product safety labels and manuals.
  6. Provide recommendations and guidance on product improvements for future products.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

The product safety engineer needs to be an individual with a track-record of planning, process development, and leading with an entrepreneurial spirit to improve the product and business. This individual will need relevant experience in working with all the functional groups that work with the product. He/she will bring new vision, energy, and creativity to the organization with a natural ability to engage people at all levels externally and internally.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Experience in a product safety and compliance role within the crane, forklift, aerial, or construction equipment industry.
  • Have a broad level of understanding of mechanical, electrical, and structural considerations for heavy equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience in understanding customer and end user applications.
  • Have a proven track record of successfully managing product safety and compliance in a large organization.
  • Be experienced with customers and industry professionals with a good understanding of customer expectations.
  • Demonstrated experience in process improvement and developing and implementing best practices within an organization.
  • Be adaptable and agile, people focused and the ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
  • Have a Root Cause/Countermeasure approach to problem solving (analytical vs. intuitive).
  • Process driven, detailed oriented, results driven and self-motivated.
  • Ability to build trust and credibility globally which includes winning approval from various stakeholders.

EDUCATION and experience

The successful candidate will have 3-5 years of industry experience in a product safety and compliance role, and a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.

COMPENSATION

Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience. It will include a base salary, an annual performance bonus, and other exceptional benefits.
