Job Description

Synensys is looking for a knowledgeable professional to fill the role of Systems Safety Engineer at our corporate headquarters in Peachtree City, GA! This role will be supporting work on various process improvement projects in both the aviation and healthcare industry. This is a remote/hybrid position, but the candidate needs to live within a reasonable distance for the occasional commute into our office.

Summary/Objective

Serve as System Safety Engineer to clients, partners, and Synensys team. Consultancy includes direct client engagements (projects), subject matter coordination with partners/subcontractors, and related safety and quality programming.

Essential Functions

Support technical application of safety and quality projects for clients and partners. Assist in shaping the development of new and continuing safety and quality improvement client projects. Support business development during the pursuit and capture of new and continuing client safety and quality improvement proposals. Serve as a key member of each safety and quality improvement client delivery team coordinating scope, effort, application, and risks with program managers to ensure client success based on project goals and objectives.

Competencies

System safety expertise applying safety engineering principles

Safety engineering and quality performance improvement

Develop engineering models to analyze and improve system control structures

System safety consulting experience in high-risk settings (especially healthcare and aviation)

Facilitating client briefings, interviews, analysis, findings, recommendations, and outcomes

Skilled at communicating complex principles to internal and external stakeholders

Proven publishing and public speaking skills for industry and senior management

Supervisory Responsibility

Responsible for self-managing personal work performance and serving as situational leader to client service teams especially for technical decision-making. Ad hoc supervision of technical delivery teams (internal, partners, subcontractors, and independent consultants).

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment in Peachtree City, Georgia. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and collaboration software systems such as Box, Teamwork, MS Office, and Costpoint timekeeping. Hybrid and virtual work schedule available with supervisor coordination. All required computers, software, and associated equipment is provided by the Company.

The employee frequently is required to stand; attend meetings (in-person and virtual); walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This full-time position regularly requires long hours across multiple time zones serving clients, partners, staff, and associated collaborators.

Travel

Travel is primarily out-of-the-local area and overnight travel. Business travel will be limited to 2-4 days each month maximum. All allowable travel expenses will be reimbursed by the Company.

Required Education and Experience

Master of Science degree with system safety focus in high-risk industries. Bachelor of Science in Engineering. Experience working with Government and Commercial clients.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Experience applying STAMP accident causality model based on systems theory and systems thinking to complex healthcare and aviation challenges.
