Position Title: Associate Vice Provost for Online Graduate Programs
Position Type: Fixed Term (Fixed Term)
Salary Range:
$119,625 - $142,313 annually, commensurate on experience.
Pay Frequency: Annual A. POSITION PURPOSE
We seek a new leader to help shape the new Santa Clara Online Graduate Consortium Department. This central, university-wide consortium will work to achieve economies of scale in marketing, lead generation and nurturing, course design and production, and course delivery associated with online at-scale degree offerings. In collaboration with SCU's schools and colleges, the Associate Vice Provost for Online Graduate Programs will develop a strategic path to build a portfolio of online degree and certificate offerings that yields significant enrollments.
Reporting to the Vice Provost for Graduate Programs, the Associate Vice Provost for Graduate Online Programs has oversight for operations and goal setting for online graduate recruitment and marketing at Santa Clara University. This individual has responsibility for all administrative and service functions associated with Online Graduate Programs from marketing, to student recruitment and ensuring that the appropriate college/school works with the student. Functional responsibilities include: marketing, recruitment, advising, and records.
The position serves as the direct supervisor of a Director of Online Graduate Recruiting, Director of Marketing and Communications for Online Graduate Programs and the potential for more staffing as the online graduate programs expand.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Work with the Vice Provost for Graduate Programs to develop and implement a strategic plan for SCU Online Graduate Programs.
2. Provide leadership to the Online Graduate Programs staff members
3. Manage the implementation of new online graduate degree and online certification programs.
4. Responsible for market assessment and recruitment of online graduate students – local & international
5. Provide outstanding academic support
6. Work with Instructional Technology to ensure courses are designed effectively.
7. Work with any outside marketing firms
8. Ensures that the lead generation is moved to the appropriate school/college and that effective email campaigns are being utilized.
9. Monitor performance of online programs management provider to ensure successful implementation of recruitment, retainment, and program implementation.
10. Ensures close integration between the schools/colleges and University administrative units including Graduate Programs Council, Office of the Provost, Information Technology, and University Marketing and Communications .
B. SPECIFIC
1. Work with the Vice Provost for Graduate Programs to develop and implement a strategic plan for SCU online graduate programs.
i. Develop and monitor the online graduate programs strategic plan that supports the strategic objectives of the University.
ii. Allocate human and financial resources to support the strategic goals of SCU and the online graduate programs.
2. Provide leadership to the Online Graduate Programs staff members
i. Provide leadership, support, and professional development opportunities for the staff.
3. Manage the implementation of new online graduate degree and online certification programs. i. Work with the Vice Provost for Graduate Programs and Deans of the Colleges and Schools to identify new program growth.
ii. Assist with market analysis and projections.
4. Responsible for market assessment and recruitment of online graduate students; including local & international
i. Collaborate with the Vice Provost for Graduate Programs and Assistant Deans in the various Colleges and Schools to increase the number and quality of applicants and applicant yield in all online graduate programs.
ii. Use key metrics to monitor and evaluate recruiting students in their journey from lead to prospect to applicant to student. Make necessary adjustments to recruiting tactics based on key success indicators.
iii. Identify various markets for recruitment of prospective students, including international students if appropriate
iv. Participates in strategy development, reviews, and collaborates on all program advertising and collateral material, working closely with Director of Marketing and Communications and any marketing agencies.
5. Works with the student support staff for online programs to ensure outstanding academic support and advising to online graduate students. 6. Work with Instructional Technology to ensure courses are designed effectively.
i. Dotted line to the instructional designers and ensures classes are being designed in a timely fashion.
7. Work with any outside marketing firms
i. Coordinates with the Director of Marketing and Communications for the Online Programs to ensure that marketing messaging, lead generation, SEO search and other marketing activities are performed well.
ii. Meets with the marketing firms as needed and in collaboration with the various Directors of Marketing, Vice Provost for Graduate Programs, Assistant Deans of Graduate Programs and University Marketing and Communications.
8. Ensures that the lead generation is moved to the appropriate school/college and that effective email campaigns are being utilized.
i. Collect and maintain program inquiries, submitted applications and enrollment rates to measure the effectiveness of digital marketing campaigns, open house events, student referrals and other recruiting efforts. These prospects are all maintained in a comprehensive enrollment and customer relationship management (CRM) system called Slate by Technolutions.
ii. Working with the marketing firms, Directors of Marketing and Assistant Deans ensure that email campaigns and other activities to drive the top of the admissions funnel is working smoothly and effectively.
9. Monitor performance of online programs management provider to ensure successful implementation of recruitment, retainment, and program implementation. 10. Ensures close integration between the schools/colleges and University administrative units including Graduate Programs Council, Office of the Provost, Information Technology, and University Marketing and Communications .

7. Prepares and submits reports as requested and required.
8. Develops and implements guidelines to support the functions of the unit.
F. QUALIFICATIONS

1. Education and/or Experience
Advanced degree required, Ed.D. or PhD preferred
12-14 years of work related to school/education administration required
Supervisor experience required
Marketing education or experience preferred.
Experience in higher education administration preferred
Experience with online programs is preferred. 2. Knowledge
Knowledge of and experience with essential computer programs.
Demonstrated knowledge of PeopleSoft preferred. 3. Skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
