Reporting to the Senior Director of Graduate Business Career Management (GBCM), this position works closely with the Graduate Business Program (GBP) student population and focuses on career development and job readiness support.
In addition to foundational career development events, workshops, mock interviews and 1 : 1 advising, GBCM works closely with employers to arrange on campus recruiting, job postings, receptions, information sessions and other events designed to build awareness and brand .
The small office setting requires an individual with flexibility that is capable of interacting in a cross-functional team setting, particularly during peak programming periods.
1. Career Advising & Services
Coach domestic and international GBP students as well as GBP alumni on career management issues.
Resume and cover letter reviews; interviewing skills; self-assessment; negotiating offers; and the independent job search.
Advise students on the use of GBCM online resources and SCU Job Boarding tools and other online resources.
Critique resumes and conduct student brand audits (social media, i.e. LinkedIn), and mock interviews on a regular basis.
Provide guidance on employer targets, job search tactics.
Assist with the coordination of On Campus Interviewing (OCI), GBCM Events & Career Fairs, support GBCM and leaders of student organizations with guest speakers and treks.
Lead and execute GBCM workshops and virtual events, on topics such as resume and cover letter preparation, interviewing, networking, etiquette and more based on student needs and interests.
Execute GBCM student engagement communication / marketing efforts to students, as needed. Support for the execution of GBCM operational services (workshop surveys, student follow-up, logging coaching appointments, etc.).
2. Employer Engagement & Services
Participate as an active member of the GBCM team to develop and implement a year round marketing strategy to identify and source employment opportunities for the wide range of interests and job levels represented in GBP constituencies : Flex Evening MBA students, Executive MBA students, Part-Time MSIS, and Full-Time MSF students, and alumni
Research employment trends and opportunities and engage with student and alumni populations. Partner with industry, regional and / or functional student and alumni groups to assist in employer outreach targets
Creatively source leads from social media, students, and alumni. Proactively reach out to contacts, often cold-calling company representatives, to establish relationships on behalf of LSB while promoting employer development initiatives
Establish and maintain positive relationships with internal (admissions, corporate relations, and alumni development) and corporate contacts while promoting employer development initiatives to support building the GBP brand across specific industries and functions
GENERAL GUIDELINES
Recommends initiatives and implements changes to improve quality and services.
Identifies and determines cause of problems; develops and presents recommendations for improvement of established processes and practices.
Maintains contact with students and solicits feedback for improved services.
Maximizes productivity through use of appropriate tools; planned training and performance initiatives.
Researches and develops resources that create timely and efficient workflow.
Prepares progress reports; informs Director of Graduate Business Management of project status; and deviation from goals. Ensures completeness, accuracy and timeliness of all operational functions.
Prepares and submits reports as requested and required.
Provides Work Direction
May provide work direction to GBCM student workers.
Qualifications

Attention to detail, time management, customer service and team skills desired. Strong organizational and project management skills required.
Must have the ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work successfully in a fast-paced environment.
Education and / or Experience
MS Office, PowerPoint, experience with web-based meeting software and online learning delivery, and social networking / marketing desired
Bachelor’s required. Master’s degree in Career Counseling or related field preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in areas such as employer relations, human resources, higher education, or business
