Position: Academic and Vocation Advisor 
Location: Reston, Virginia 
Schedule: Monday- Thursday | 12 PM - 7 PM
Job Type: Part Time
Compensation:$22 Per Hour

  • As an Academic and Vocation Advisor at Sandstone Care, you will be part of our mission to empower our clients and transform their lives. You will work closely with each client to understand their needs, strengths, and aspirations. You will design and implement customized coaching plans that address their academic or career challenges, provide mentoring and support, and connect them with relevant resources. You will also act as a liaison between our clients and their families, schools, employers, or other stakeholders.
Depending on the age and needs of your clients, you will assist them with different tasks, such as:
  • For teen clients (age 13-18): working on math and English skills, exam preparation, writing essays, etc.
  • For young adult clients (age 19-30): working on job applications, college applications, job presentations, interview prep, resume reviews, etc.
You will also monitor their progress and help them overcome any obstacles or barriers that they may face along the way.
Who You Are
You are a passionate and experienced professional who loves working with young people and helping them achieve their education and vocational goals. You have the following qualifications and skills:
Need to have:
  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as Behavioral Health Science, Human Resources, or Education
  • Minimum of 3 years of combined experience in providing mentoring, academic, vocational, and/or life skills support to adolescents and/or young adults
  • Minimum 3 years of combined experience, including experience with clients ages of 13 to 30.
Nice to have:
  • A Master’s degree in a related field (MEd)
  • Familiarity or experience with 504 plans or IEPs
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
