POSITION TITLE: Bus Mechanic
FLSA Qualification: Non Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS:
REPORT TO: Erich Anderson, Transportation Director
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-month position.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. High School diploma or GED required.
2. Valid State School bus certification and all health and employment standards required.
3. Technical training and/or appropriate years of experience set by the Board.
4. Commercial Drivers License required (will train)
5. Good aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
6. Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship. 7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Position Goal: To keep all district vehicles and buses in such a state of operating excellence that they present no problems or interruptions to the educational program. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Diagnose and repair district buses and automotive fleets.
2. Knowledge of major repairs to buses and all district automotive fleets, including
gasoline and diesel overhaul, transmissions, workbench overhaul, and welding.
3. Proficiency and qualification to operate all buses and all support and service
vehicles.
4. Uses preventive maintenance to all automotive fleet and shop equipment,
maintaining a high quality of workmanship, safety standards, good
housekeeping, and a cooperative attitude with co-workers.
5. Drive the bus route as necessary.
6. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Occasional Requirements:
Reach with hands and arms overhead, above shoulder, and horizontally; lift/move up to 80 pounds. Visual Requirements: Close, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus. Hearing/Speaking Requirements: Adequate to exchange information.
