Position Summary
Under the general direction of the Manager of Field Service and Water Conservation and in conjunction with the Corporate Communications Manager, the Customer Field Service Supervisor - Conservation assists in the planning, development and implementation of water conservation programs to promote the efficient use of water supplies; performs related work as required. Also responsible for day to day management of the Recycled Water Program and assisting Field Service as on On-Call Supervisor.

Specific Responsibilities
The incumbent is distinguished by his/her direct supervisory responsibility for the work of assigned staff including planning, assigning, and evaluating the work of subordinates.
  • Plans, supervises, coordinates, reviews the work of staff involved in water conservation programs
  • Evaluates operations and activities of assigned responsibilities and recommends improvements and modifications
  • Responds to questions and provides information to the public
  • Investigates complaints and recommends corrective action as necessary to resolve complaints.
  • Coordination of work assignments and supervision of Water Conservation Inspectors;
  • Coordinating customer outreach and targeted marketing to high water using customers;
  • Ongoing tracking of water audit related data;
  • Tracking the distribution of water conservation devices (faucet aerators and showerheads), conservation literature, and coordinating the sufficient stock of these items;
  • Coordinating the distribution and tracking of recycled water site inspection reports;
  • Acts as On-Call to support the Field Service Department;
  • Participation in special projects as assigned by the Manager of Field Service and Water Conservation.

Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of and experience with urban water conservation programs including but not limited to water audits, landscape water conservation, conservation legislation, and general household plumbing fixtures.
  • Knowledge of and experience with irrigation systems including basic irrigation design and operation of irrigation controllers.
  • Familiarity and/or experience with recycled water is a plus.
  • Ability to review, analyze and organize work, set priorities and meet critical deadlines; supervise, direct, and coordinate the work of assigned staff
  • Utilize a personal computer and current applications of word processing and spreadsheet software programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication (presentation, listening, report writing) and interpersonal skills.

Required Education and Experience
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Public Administration, Environmental and/or Water Resource Management, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Three years of increasingly responsible professional experience in areas of Public Administration, Public Relations, Water Resources, or Program Management and supervising staff.

Other Requirements
Must possess a valid California driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record.
