NOTE: Individuals recommended for hire in an Instructional Assistant position or any other position
requiring State Board for Educator Certification SBEC certification will be required to submit appropriate
application/s and fees as determined by SBEC to obtain certification.
Position Summary
Responsible for maintaining an effective operation for the prevention of truancy and keeping the campus halls
orderly. Under the supervision of the Administrator, supervises students, monitors their activities, ensures their
physical welfare, provides disciplinary support, and does related work as directed by the supervisor.
Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities
1. Direct authorized visitors on campus to their proper destination on campus and monitors unauthorized
visitors.
2. Reports tardiness, truancies, and other related incidents to the appropriate school administrator.
3. Assist with document preparation as needed or required.
4. Assist with student management and supervision in and around campus common areas.
5. Monitor students in the gym, cafeteria, and hallways or other designated areas throughout the school day
including morning and afternoon dismissal times.
6. Give directions, escort students or disruptive individuals to designated locations.
7. Assist in managing student behavior, including crisis intervention, physical management of disruptive
students and inappropriate behaviors, as needed.
8. Assist with maintaining a safe, neat, and orderly campus.
9. Assist with the supervision and monitoring of students throughout the school day inside and outside of
the classroom, including the cafeteria, playground, physical education classes, boarding and exiting the
bus, on community-based activities and other assigned activities.
10. Assist in maintaining administrative/student records and prepare required reports.
11. Perform other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities expected
for this position.

Minimum Requirements
o Associates degree or higher from an accredited college/university.
o A minimum of forty-eight (48) semester college hours from an accredited college or university.
o High school diploma or GED equivalent recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional
accrediting agency and T.O.P. Treasuring Our Paraprofessionals / Region XX.
