Position Title: Bilingual Data Program Specialist

Job Title: Bilingual Data Program Specialist

Reports to: Assistant Superintendent of Bilingual/ESL/Migrant Pay Grade: N09

Terms of • 230 days per year. FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
Employment: • At-Will employment agreement.

  • Salary is in the pay grade N09 on the Non-
Exempt SAISD Compensation Plan.
  • Entry salary is at $18.00 with consideration for
directly related experience.

Position Summary
Assist in the attainment of district goals by effective and efficient performance of data entry functions, including
tasks which generate state funding and impact accountability ratings for campuses and the district. Provide
support to district staff within the bilingual/ESL Program, including the International Welcome Center, regarding
compliance, data entry, and reports.
Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities

1. Required to drive personal vehicle in the performance of assigned tasks and maintain an approved travel
log for mileage reimbursement.

2. Perform general office procedures including typing, filing, and mail.
3. Duplication of materials, data processing, editing and general recordkeeping.
4. Assist with processing, dissemination, review of department reports, documents, as directed by

administrator; to include campus reports.
5. Maintain general office files and student: save/store required documents per policy and administrative

procedures.
6. Process cyclical data reports.
7. Utilize student information system and related computer applications to complete assigned

responsibilities.
8. Compile, maintain and file reports, records and other documents required in accordance with state and

federal program requirements.
9. Performs other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities

expected for this position.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) or a regional
accrediting agency)
  • 1 year of related experience.
  • Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee
(approximately $50.00) paid by the employee.

Preferred Requirements

  • 2 years of work-related experience, general knowledge of routine office procedures to include customer
service, telephone etiquette, efficient and effective filing and record keeping procedures in a school or
business environment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Self-motivated, possess the ability to work with frequent interruptions, able to handle multiple tasks and
work collaboratively to meet TEA and district deadlines.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations as they pertain to bilingual/ESL Education and the
Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC) Decision-making process.
  • Proficiency in general office workflow and procedures.
  • Proficiency in navigating the district student data systems (i.e. ITCCS, I-Data Portal, Crystal Enterprise, e-
STAR).
  • Proficiency in completing campus and district audits of student data in compliance with state and federal
requirements connected to program services and funding.
  • Ability to use software to develop spreadsheets, databases, and word processing.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills; must have high level of integrity regarding
department records and confidentiality.
  • Ability to establish positive working relationships with administrators, teachers, other auxiliary personnel,
students, and the public.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team to provide assistance to department staff, supervisors,
school/department personnel, and the public in a fast-paced environment and meet established
deadlines.
  • Ability to perform oral and written assigned duties and responsibilities with limited supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders within the bilingual/ESL Program.

Work Environment:

  • Computer, computer software programs and peripherals, teacher resource materials and
equipment, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to position.
  • Frequent exposure to: temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise. Occasional
exposure to: biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.

Physical Demands/Requirements:

  • Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions/deadlines; frequent sitting,
standing, walking, climbing, balancing, pulling and pushing; reaching, repetitive hand motions, hearing,
speaking clearly, visual acuity and prolonged data input; occasional lift/carry light, moderate 15-44 pounds.
