About the role:

Samsara is seeking an Engineering Manager for our growing Automation Platform team. The Automation Platform team’s goal is to build a flexible trigger/logic/action framework that would enable our product teams to leverage the power of Samsara’s real time data insights to drive activity and efficiency for our customers. This role is fully remote in the US and Canada.

In this role, you will: 

• Direct a team that is building a fundamental automation system for reuse across the platform
• Partner with product teams to build a flexible framework that maximizes customer value and efficiency
• Build roadmaps, engineering plans, and schedule estimates
• Promote best practices and establishing team processes
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement
• Identify infrastructure and architectural investment needs
• Coach & mentor software engineers
• Conduct regular 1-1s and give performance evaluations

Minimum requirements for the role:

• 7 years of professional experience in a Software Engineering role
• Experience working on large-scale enterprise software applications
• 3 years of direct people management experience with a team of 6 or more engineers

We use Golang for our backend, Typescript and React for our web client, GraphQL to fetch data from our backend, and Python and SparkSQL for our data pipeline flows. Direct experience with these technologies is ideal but not required.
