Job Description

Machine Learning systems form an integral part of the experience at DeviantArt, helping us expose users to relevant art, foster the DeviantArt community, and give new avenues for deviants’ creativity. As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will: 

• Help design performant, scalable, and maintainable machine learning production infrastructure for a high-traffic environment

• Implement, deploy, and monitor reliable machine-learning production systems for an active online community of artists

• Use generative models to build products that enable new opportunities for artistic expression on DeviantArt

• Build end-to-end systems going from data ingestion to serving results in production

• Stay up-to-date with developments in the data and machine learning engineering communities and translate them into actionable suggestions for DeviantArt’s systems and goals

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in machine learning or a related field

• At least 5 years of industry experience working on machine learning algorithms and applications; including for recommendation, classification, and image generation

• Experience designing and deploying cloud-based production systems using AWS

• Expertise with large-scale data processing and machine learning workflows in GPU-optimized distributed environments

• Familiarity with Python and relevant tools such as PySpark, Pandas, and Pytorch

• Knowledge of the latest large-scale image generation and language models

Bonus points if you

• Are familiar with specifying cloud infrastructure in code

• Have worked with large-scale search engines like Elasticsearch or Vespa in production

• Know the ins and outs of serverless approaches to running machine learning and data services infrastructure

The DeviantArt Artificial Intelligence team is located in Vancouver, Canada, and while we partially work remotely we are looking for local candidates at the moment.

Approximate base compensation is $160,000 - $200,000 CAD per year. In addition to base pay you will receive company RSUs as part of the compensation package.

Final offer may vary and will be determined by various factors including the location where the role is expected to be performed, shift, candidate profile, and ideal qualifications.
