Description

Samford University seeks a skilled person to manage the daily operations of the campus Media Center. Working closely with the Executive Director of Broadcast Media, the Media Center Manager will produce event recordings and livestreams for the university, maintain technology in the Media Center, and manage and train student workers to assist in daily duties. Additionally, the Media Center Manager will seek ways to improve current processes and technology to increase functionality and efficiency in campus productions. In collaboration with colleagues across campus, the Media Center Manager will lend insights and expertise related to technology purchases and upgrades for the campus in order to maintain Samford’s competencies and abilities needed to serve the campus community. The Media Center Manager will manage the Media Center budget and report workflow and projects to the Executive Director of Broadcast Media.

Job Duties

  • Oversee Media Center equipment, providing general upkeep, maintenance as needed, and making suggested upgrades to improve technology and workflow.
  • Edit event recordings and livestream events for clients and archival purposes.
  • Provide Media Center support to colleagues on campus for event recordings and livestreams.
  • Hire and manage a student worker staff that can meaningfully contribute to the Media Center and offer the skills needed to provide Media Center services.
  • Collaborate with Technology Services to maintain and improve connectivity to the Media Center via fiber network and other projects as needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues throughout the campus community to ensure the Media Center supports campus event recordings and livestreams.
  • Produce four livestreams and related assets for the annual Step Sing event, overseeing staffing and technology for the university livestream.
  • Collaborate with key faculty teaching in the Communication and Media program to involve students into Media Center operations as deemed appropriate.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring successful and on-time delivery.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director of Broadcast Media to develop high-level, integrated performance reporting of live streams for the Division of Marketing and Communication.
  • Provide videography and editing support for additional special projects and initiatives, as assigned by the Executive Director of Broadcast Media.
  • Advance the goals and priorities of the Division of Advancement and Marketing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • A minimum of 3 years of demonstrated work experience in broadcast media production or broadcast communication-related experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively build relationships and collaborate with a wide variety of campus constituents
  • Exceptional project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated skill and experience in editing for a variety of media, including news, events, promotional and social
  • Experience working with and developing content for digital application platforms, Roku and Apple TV
  • A sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines
  • Extremely organized and attentive to detail and accuracy
  • Adept at learning new tools and technology

Preferred Qualifications

  • Adobe Production Suite
  • DANTE Certification 1 & 2 with a working knowledge of DANTE Domain Manager
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Server Software and equipment
