Description

With a commitment to service and equity, responsibilities include but are not limited to: leadership of the International Student & Scholar unit, liaising with Enrollment Management to develop and implement an international student recruitment strategy by global market, develop and implement recruitment plans, oversight of prospect management and potential recruitment agent relationship management, oversight of yield strategies and tactics, and analysis on return on investment of student recruitment activities. The Director facilitates the effective use of information systems and technology to advance international student enrollment goals. The Director will also oversee and facilitate retention programming for all multi-cultural students based in SamfordGLOBAL.

Job Duties

• Manage a comprehensive international admissions & immigration program: attract and retain international students and Americans living abroad to Samford University’s graduate and undergraduate programs.
• Communicate and collaborate with other departments across campus involved with recruiting and admitting students to ensure appropriate enrollment management and planning.
• Oversee international recruitment efforts by traveling to sites, working with schools and international partners (e.g. EdUSA and international school systems), contacting prospective students and their families, reviewing credentials, making admission recommendations, and developing communication strategies to guide prospective students through the admissions process.
• Serve as the Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Office (ARO) in collaboration with Executive Director & Coordinator in carrying out F-1 and J-1 immigration responsibilities on behalf of the University.
• Supervise the International Student & Scholar Coordinator in developing and implementing a comprehensive retention strategy for international students; together leading campus-wide efforts to support and retain all international and multi-cultural students, including sponsoring international club and other hubs of belonging for multi-cultural students.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in international evaluations and credentials knowledge, staying abreast of trends and recommending enrollment policies as needed.
• Oversee training of the recruitment team for effective cross-cultural communication. Ensure relevant staff are trained for recruitment and immigration support. Establish appropriate communication techniques and methods of communication for international audiences.
• Collaborate with enrollment management to implement internal improvements to operations and overall process efficiency to optimize application-to-offer rates across program groups.
• Keep up to date with changes in the landscape of international education and immigration by becoming an active member of appropriate national and regional organizations, including NAFSA. Maintain relevant strategies and up-to-date policies.
• Collaborate with Assistant Director of SamfordGLOBAL to develop and implement a comprehensive, integrated marketing plan aligned with recruitment priorities.
• Establish and maintain contact with current international students and faculty members who travel abroad to extend recruitment efforts. Work cross-divisionally on projects related to global partnerships and international engagement.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

This position requires a valid driver's license and U.S. Passport and the ability to work travel internationally and domestically on nights and weekends, as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• Minimum three (3) years of experience in international admissions and/or recruitment, international education, and/or immigration.
• Progressive experience in management, leadership and supervision of professional staff in admissions or related enrollment field.
• US Passport holder
• Valid driver's license and U.S. Passport
• International and domestic travel
• Ability to work additional nights and weekends, as required
