Assesses patient’s mental status through interviews and observations and then develops treatment plans or makes referrals to appropriate services.What You Will Do
  • Works with patients and their families to determine goals for treatment.
  • Solicits family information, observations and concerns.
  • Interviews, observes and develops treatment plans for patients.
  • Implements, goals, policies and activities designed to meet program objectives
  • Conducts individual and group therapy sessions for patients with mental illness, emotional and substance abuse problems.
  • May assess incoming clients and eventually help prepare them for transitioning home.
  • Provides referrals to appropriate mental health resources.
  • Monitors patient’s treatment progress and keeps track of their mental status.
  • Consults with other mental health professionals to provided effective courses of treatment.
  • Provides crisis intervention services to patients who are in danger to themselves and others.
  • Keeps accurate records of patient records and treatment provided.
  • Evaluates and utilizes community mental health resources as needed.
Who You Will BeEducation, Experience and Skills Required:
  • Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling.
  • At least 1-2 years demonstrated clinical experience in substance use and/or mental health treatment for designated programs based on needs of the facility.
  • In depth knowledge of NYC diverse network of medical and behavioral health care organizations, including substance use disorders, treatment services, education and employment services, and non-traditional community support groups.
  • Computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHR.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
License/Certification Required
  • To obtain QHP (Qualified Health Professional) status within designated OASAS regulated programs, MHC-Permit required and must obtain within 90 days of hire OR
  • NYS LMHC licensure for designated programs/divisions.
