Summary

A Digital Print Operator operates and maintains, with necessary guidance, any combination of high-volume digital printers, digital envelope press, and/or a variety of bindery and mail equipment. The Digital Print Operator Senior responsibilities include the direction, training, and assisting others in the accomplishment of their duties.

What You'll Do

  • Maintains and operates digital high speed print equipment.
  • Schedules and processes jobs with the printer computer interface.
  • Adjusts required settings to run various sizes and weights of paper stock, and imposition layout as needed.
  • Handles equipment problems and maintenance by clearing paper jams and making minor machine adjustments and operator repairs as needed.
  • Places equipment service calls as needed and interacts with vendor service providers.
  • Maintains files related to print jobs and printing materials as directed on print job tickets.
  • Monitors equipment during operation to maintain efficiency and a high quality-assurance process.
  • Operates a variety of print shop finishing equipment including, but not limited to binding, punching, cutting, collating, stitching, drilling, padding, perforating, laminating, folding, mail inserting, tabbing, and inkjet mail addressing.
  • Records all necessary data for each piece of equipment (i.e., time and material usage, etc.) and updates the job status in the appropriate work management system.
  • Make be required to work a reasonable amount of overtime.

What It Takes To Succeed

  • Communicates well with management and collaborates with coworkers to follow instructions to efficiently and effectively complete work assignments.
  • Operate and maintain digital print equipment to produce a wide variety of print jobs.
  • Basic understanding of the printing industry and production best practices, including digital printing, bindery and mailing operations associated with a print shop.
  • Perform basic arithmetic calculations.
  • Must be able to lift/move paper boxes up to 50lbs and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Ability to rapidly adapt and respond to changes in scope and priorities.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, manage and prioritize multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously and independently.
  • Work under pressure to produce quality work and meet committed deadlines.

Experience

No minimum skills required for entry level. Applicants with any combination of training, education, and/or print shop experience in the operation of high-speed printers, bindery equipment and mail inserting and processing equipment is preferred. Microsoft365 applications, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Workfront and/or Avanti Slingshot experience will have additional consideration.

Employees in this classification with a required minimum 3 years of experience and show proficiency in the operation of the various pieces of equipment and processes for progression to the senior level.

Education

High School, GED or Equivalent.


Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
