Salm Partners is Hiring a 3rd Shift Manager- Hager Near Denmark, WI

SUMMARY

Oversees all operations and sanitation-related activities for the assigned shift. Monitors and tracks production performance and key performance metric; leads process improvements throughout the manufacturing operation, being a driver for a culture of continuous improvement, cost savings and efficiency. Provides process expertise, mentoring and direction to support manufacturing goals and objectives. Ensures shift compliance with all safety, food safety, quality, SQF, GMP and USDA requirements.

Essential duties and Responsibilities include the following.

  • Oversee production operations across blending, stuffing, packaging, sleeving, vat washing and palletizing areas to ensure an efficient production process.
  • Supervise Facilitators; provide guidance and direction in managing their shift performance and personnel.
  • Coordinate continuous improvement efforts; evaluate operations processes and methods and provide the Operations team with recommendations for improved process and method approaches.
  • Collaboratively with other Shift Managers, develop or revise Standard Operating Procedures and Standardized Work Instructions, and ensure compliance to procedures.
  • Help identify & eliminate root causes and diminish non-conformance occurrences in the manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure routine, standard communications of the daily production schedule and other pertinent information in pre-shift meetings.
  • Oversee the daily and weekly staffing needs based on the production schedule to ensure optimal staffing levels, and review temporary staffing utilization.
  • Review daily shift production and operating reports; resolve production, operations and maintenance issues in a timely manner to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Oversee and address production needs, changes, and schedules.
  • Monitor and track downtime.
  • Compile weekly production metrics reports, monitoring yield, waste, #2, inedible, and OEE for the shift; present operational results weekly
  • Oversee production supply usage, monitoring incoming and outgoing supplies and finished goods.
  • Identify training and development needs of personnel assigned to the shift and ensure training is provided in a timely manner.
  • Oversee the performance management process, ensuring performance reviews and disciplinary actions are completed appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Oversee the sanitation and Master Sanitation activities on the shift.
  • Assist with maintaining SQF compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with all established GMP, USDA-FSIS and Quality Assurance requirements.
  • Oversee the completion of Accident & Near Miss incident investigations; ensure resolution of all safety issues and concerns from a corrective actions and preventive measures standpoint.
  • Provide backup assistance to the Facilitators in the event of absences as needed.
  • Backup Shift Manager will provide backup in case of an absence.
  • Promote and ensure compliance with all established safety policies and procedures.
  • Foster and support a positive, open and inclusive work environment.
  • Support and promote the Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives of the company.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises production Supervisors; carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training partners; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining partners; addressing complaints and resolving personnel problems.

Qualifications

Must have exemplary interpersonal communication skills and enjoy teaching and developing people. Knowledge of GMP and HACCP is required. Must demonstrate a strong work ethic, honesty, trustworthiness, and personal and professional integrity.

Education and/or Experience

A Bachelors degree in Business, Operations Management or related field is normally required; or if non-degreed, a minimum of ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience in a USDA-regulated food manufacturing environment is required, preferably with ready-to-eat processed meats.
