General

The Staff Accountant is responsible for providing exceptional support for our clients. Using prior experience, training and education, the ideal candidate will demonstrate effective communication and work directly with clients and other Rushton team members to resolve challenges and improve internal and client processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Reconciles accounts receivable & accounts payable, bank accounts and inventory sub-ledgers. 
  • Understands and is able to prepare payroll setup, submission, review and journal entries. 
  • Calculates commissions, bonuses, etc. 
  • Tracks fixed assets and computes depreciation. 
  • Assists CAS client team in the preparation of financial statements.
  • Downloading/entry of revenues/expenses from banks and/or 3rd party applications and review for accuracy. 
  • Completes analysis projects as requested.
  • Prepares sales tax returns, payroll tax returns, and property tax returns. 
  • Works accurately and efficiently with minimal supervision, while still meeting budgets and deadlines.
  • Handles all types of client engagements efficiently, timely and professionally.

  • Solid organizational skills & ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on detail

  • Proven ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to recognize and protect confidential and sensitive information and exercise strict discretion when disseminating or sharing information
  • Positive energy and professionalism on a daily basis
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Emotional intelligence and the ability to adjust style for the recipient/client
  • Provide “5 Star Service” to clients and co-workers

Required Experience:

  • 2-5 years of experience in relevant field
  • Experience with Accounting CS preferred but not required
  • QuickBooks experience required (Online and/or Desktop)
  • Bill.com experience preferred
  • Ability to adjust schedule based on peak workload times in the department
  • Advanced MS Suite skills including Word, Excel and Outlook. Comfort and experience with workflow software systems
  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience required
