Summary:

We’re seeking an experienced systems administrator who’s eager to use and grow his or her technological skills in a challenging environment. In this role, the successful individual will protect our critical information, systems, and assets, build solutions, implement new software and hardware, be available as a resource to the helpdesk staff on issues requiring escalation, and assist the Director of IT in developing an overall IT strategy. From early on, you’ll take ownership of projects that will challenge you, and require you to expand your skillset. Our ideal candidate has a security-focused mindset and understands the importance of following best practices, and documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain essential IT operations, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, database systems, laptops, desktops, software, and hardware
  • Own projects, solutions, and key responsibilities within a larger business initiative
  • Handle business-critical IT tasks and systems that provide 24/7 up-time in a production print environment
  • Enable faster and smarter business processes and implement analytics for meaningful insights
  • Maintain the health of internal and external backup systems per the company’s disaster recovery and data retention policies
  • Collaborate with network analysts and helpdesk staff to resolve issues affecting end-user productivity and ensure business continuity
  • Provision new servers, decommission end-of-life servers, and maintain/upgrade existing servers
  • Perform server administration tasks, including user/group administration, security permissions, group policies, configuration of roles and services, monitoring of event log warnings and errors, and ensuring security patches are up to date
  • Perform the above administrative tasks on additional systems, including on-premise phone system and SaaS platforms
  • Monitor the MITRE Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) Database and the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) vulnerability catalog, and ensure timely patching of relevant systems
  • Perform server hardware maintenance, including firmware upgrades, troubleshooting, and resolving issues relating to performance, connectivity, and redundancy
  • Make recommendations for changes to the current infrastructure
  • Interact with the help desk and networking teams to assist in troubleshooting, identify root causes, and provide technical support when needed
  • Perform routine/scheduled audits of backup systems, including routinely testing restores of files/folders, SQL databases, and full VM images
  • Assist with compliance audits
Requirements:

Key Requirements:

  • 3 Years experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows Servers in a VMWare environment
  • Extensive experience maintaining and troubleshooting Active Directory domains, including administration of users, computers, and groups, permissions, group policies, DNS, DHCP, Certificate Authorities, Remote Desktop Services
  • Experience with administration of Azure Active Directory/Entra ID, Azure AD Sync, and Microsoft 365 services
  • Expertise with VMWare ESXi, including performing upgrades, maintenance, and configuration through vCenter Server Administrator, VMWare CLI, and vCloud Director
  • Experience utilizing Powershell scripts to perform advanced administrative tasks
  • Experience configuring, maintaining, and testing enterprise backup systems – specifically Veeam Backup and Replication Suite
  • Understanding of core networking concepts, including IP Addressing, Subnetting, VLANs, Routing, Switching, and Access Control
  • Ability to create clear, concise documentation of processes and procedures
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and meets deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and customer contact skills
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates computer skills and aptitude; Microsoft Office preferred
  • Effectively sets priorities
  • Ability to track and report on opportunities for improvement and success
  • Listening effectively when others are speaking
  • Credible, responsive team-player
  • Ability to perform and retain various skill-related tasks, training, and operations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with VMWare CLI
  • Experience with Cisco UCS blade servers and chassis
  • Experience with SQL Server maintenance and administration
  • Experience with Cisco routing, switching, and security appliances; including Cisco ISE and DUO Authenticator
  • Experience with VoIP systems
  • Experience with hybrid AD environments utilizing Azure AD Sync/Entra Connect Sync
  • Experience with compliance audits (specifically SOC 2 Type 2)
