Job Title:GIS Analyst

Location(s): Westminster, CO

Status: Full-Time

FLSA: Exempt

Hiring Range: $55,000 - $60,000/yr. (The anticipated starting salary pay range of $55,000 - $60,000/yr.is based on minimum requirements for this position. Minimum requirements are a Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent). The offered salary will be based upon the selected applicant’s education, training, and experience.)

RSI EnTech, LLC is recruiting for a GIS Analyst who will perform a broad range of geospatial related tasks in support of the Department of Energy's Office of Legacy Management (DOE LM) organization and programs, including the Defense-Related Uranium Mines (DRUM) program. The GIS Analyst produces geospatial products, performs geospatial data management, and completes data quality assurance.

This position is required to travel 5% of the time. 

Primary responsibilities and essential functions:

  • Produce quality maps and figures of geospatial information for report deliverables and field documents.
  • Create, organize, manipulate, and retrieve geospatial data for reporting, analysis, and presentation purposes.
  • Provide data analysis, loading, and QA/QC of spatial data for the program, including management of spatial data collected by field teams.
  • Enter data into Geographic Information Systems (GIS) databases, using techniques such as coordinate geometry, keyboard entry of tabular data, manual digitizing of maps, and conversion of other sources of digital data.
  • Collect, compile, interpret, or integrate geospatial data, such as remote sensing, aerial imagery, or cartographic data for inclusion in mapping documents.
  • Assist with building geospatial databases from imagery, lidar, CAD, and other cartographic/digital sources; support the development of geodatabase designs.
  • Ensure compliance with adopted standards for geospatial data, including quality control on attributes, metadata, topology, and spatial accuracy.
  • Collaborate with personnel concerning revisions to maps and geospatial data.
  • Meet with clients to discuss requirements for mapping products and associated data.
  • Work with data providers to migrate data into the enterprise GIS data structure.
  • Follow and/or test Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work experience, skills, and capabilities needed:

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of a GIS including relational database fundamentals and concepts for performing data collection, processing, analysis, and modeling
  • Understanding of geospatial/tabular data collection, organization, management, and processing
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of Esri's Desktop ArcGIS Pro software with cartography, data editing, data management, and data organization
  • Ability to create quality maps and other data visualization and analysis using data from multiple platforms
  • Experience with managing vector and raster data sets in an enterprise GIS environment
  • Understanding of geographic data sources available through local, county, state, or federal agencies
  • Ability to write procedures, document business processes, and prepare application/platform documentation.
  • Strong team skills with ability to work independently and take direction.
  • Proactively manage time to meet schedules, excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with peers, clients, and share ideas of complex matters, both verbally and in writing

Technical knowledge, certifications/licenses, and software proficiency required:

  • Esri ArcGIS Desktop Pro (2.9 or higher)
  • Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel

Desirable qualifications, experience, or proficiencies of the ideal candidate:

  • Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online
  • Experience with mobile field data collection including ArcGIS Field Maps
  • Experience with Python scripting language
  • Understanding of high-level web app design such as ArcGIS Experience Builder
  • Familiar with AutoCAD (2016 or higher)
  • Knowledge of commonly applied standards including but not limited to the FGDC (Federal Geographic Data Committee

Required Education and Years of Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Environmental Science, or related field with GIS training or coursework. 

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

The employee must remain is a stationary position 50% of the time. This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. The person in this position frequently communicates with others who have inquiries. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Constantly works inside an office environment. Frequently moves documents and objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Must be able to observe and learn technical material and emails.
