Job Title: Education Specialist
Location(s): Grand Junction, CO

Hiring Range: $55,000.00 - $62,000.00/yr. (The anticipated starting salary pay range of $55,000.00 - $62,000.00/yr. is based on minimum requirements for this position. Minimum requirements are a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and at least 7 years of experience of relevant experience. The offered salary will be based upon the selected applicant’s education, training, and experience.)

RSI EnTech, LLC is recruiting for a Education Specialist who will be responsible for programmatic planning for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through the development of activities, materials, resources, and training opportunities. Facilitates LM staff direct participation in STEM activities in their communities. Content responsibilities includes educational curriculum, presentations, talking points, programs, displays, exhibits, and materials for the LM public website, publications, and social media. The Education Specialist also travels, as needed, to host activities for single classrooms, medium to large school events, and staffs booths at community festivals and technical conferences. This position will also provide support to the regular operation and programming of the Atomic Legacy Cabin in Grand Junction, Colorado.

This position is required to travel up to 20% of the time.

Primary responsibilities and essential functions:

  • Responsible for providing project leadership to develop STEM related lesson plans, curriculum, scripts, videos, publications, and activities for community events across the LM complex and LM professional conferences.
  • Serve Subject matter expert in the Next Generation Science Standards.
  • Approximately 30% of time supports the regular operation and programs conducted at the Atomic Legacy Cabin.
  • Provide excellent professional customer service for both the public and internal team members.
  • Ensure safe working conditions at workstations and in public areas.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and project leadership.
  • Responsible for working with staff to develop onsite, offsite, and virtual experiences for schools, youth and adult groups, stakeholders, and the public in support of the Atomic Legacy Cabin.
  • Communicate information and works collaboratively throughout all levels of the LM/LMSP organization.
  • Serve as a contributing member of the LMSP ECHO team.
  • Responsible for providing ongoing schedule reports of lesson plans, curriculum, scripts, videos, publications, activities, and attendance numbers.
  • Responsible for leading the development of project plans for site-related interpretive projects. Includes planning, developing, and participating in on- and off-site programs, special events, outreach, and related projects.
  • Independently plan, develop, and host educational and interpretive lessons for public audiences. When working with schools – ensure alignment with state standards of education and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Includes writing program themes, lesson plans, and talking points, as well as preparing presentations and other content as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Technical knowledge, certifications/licenses, and software proficiency required:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint.
  • Familiarity with Next Generation Science Standards, classroom experience, demonstrated ability to write interpretive themes, educational lesson plans and STEM curricula.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Desirable qualifications, experience, or proficiencies of the ideal candidate:

  • Have or be willing to earn Certified Interpretive Guide training from the National Association of Interpretation.

Required Education and Years of Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Communications, Public Relations, or related field with a minimum 7 years’ experience. Experience in Lieu of education may be considered.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

Medium: Work involves moving objects by exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, or an above-negligible amount and up to 10 pounds constantly. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for light work.
