Position Overview
The General Manager handles running a profitable restaurant and for making sure the restaurant meets Burger King’s critical customer standards of Quality, Service, and Cleanliness. These standards are high, so this is a big job!
The General Manager works with his/her district manager to set the restaurant’s goals and creates a plan to achieve the goals.
The General Manager may also manage hiring and developing assistant manager and shift leaders to make sure that the restaurant has the right team to lead into the future.
Ideal candidates should have earlier General Manager experience running high volume locations. A background in quick service restaurants is strongly desired, or experience in hospitality or retail.
The RGM operates under the direction of the District Manager and directly manages a team of 20-40 staff.
• Has primary accountability for the restaurant P&L and actively manages towards desired financial outcomes by driving sales through initiative-taking guest service, people development, and operations management
• Motivates and directs team members to exceed guest expectations with correct, friendly, and fast service in a clean building facility
• Problem solves guest feedback systems to decide root-causes and develops action plans to address issues
• Leads the restaurant’s recruitment and selection process to build and keep an effective restaurant team
• On-boards new team members by training and guiding them through the certification process
• Inspires the restaurant team by supplying coaching and feedback while effectively managing individual and team recognition programs
• Manages restaurant labor using best Manager staffing and Team Member scheduling
• Review financial statements, sales, analysis reports, and other performance data to measure productivity
• Actively find areas of operational improvements based on market trends
• Ensure communication is passed to every team member in the store
• Use company supplied tools to coach, mentor and develop a high performing store team
• Ensure all risk management issues are following company standards
• Create or approve Management and Associate schedules to ensure proper staffing levels for expected sale volumes, while taking team member availability, payroll, and overtime costs into consideration
• Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
• High School Diploma or GED needed; 2 years of college preferred
• 3-7 years of restaurant management experience
• Understanding of P&L management & drivers of restaurant profitability.
• Ability to prioritize own and others’ work and time to meet deadlines and aims
• Demonstrated leadership and critical thinking skills
• Exceptional customer and guest service principles
• Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to work long and/or irregular shifts as needed, for proper functioning of the restaurant.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Food Safety: Serve Safe certified
• Acts with integrity; keeps commitments
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
• The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange correct information in these situations
• Tolerate extreme cold and hot temperatures and work in and around fryers, ovens, grills, coolers, freezers, sharp objects, and loud noises
• Reach, grasp, and manipulate objects with hands for entire shift, including reaching for objects overhead
• Push, pull, lift, and carry up to 10 lbs. often and up to 50 lb. occasionally, including lifting from ground to overhead
• Proficient in a variety of technology systems including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook) and ability to learn and adapt to new systems quickly
• Critical thinking skills for unexpected circumstances, such as staffing shortages or unhappy customers
• Financial knowledge to manage the budget effectively and keep the restaurant profitable
• Analytical skills to interpret reports and make data-driven decisions
• Experience using restaurant management software
• Customer service and people skills to create positive relationships
