GENERAL SUMMARY
The Risk Manager establishes and implements an effective Risk Management program including organizing, implementing and evaluating the hospital’s comprehensive Risk Management Program including risk evaluation, application of risk reduction strategies to mitigate risk. The Risk Manager participates in reinforcing the culture of patient safety preventing avoidable harm. The Risk Manager is authorized to implement all necessary actions to ensure achievement of the objectives of an effective risk program. Works closely with senior leadership, medical staff leadership and the quality department. The Risk Manager reports to the Chief Quality Officer.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES REQUIRED:
· Graduate education in hospital administration, business administration, law (Juris Doctor or equivalent); or other legal training desirable.
· RN or other health care licensure, or clinical experience in healthcare related field preferred, not required.
· Seven years of previous risk management, legal, or compliance experience required; recent health care experience preferred.
· Enterprise Risk Management experience preferred
· Knowledge of federal and Illinois law related to health care.
