ROSE is Hiring a Remote Senior Product Owner

ROSE is an award-winning digital innovation agency focused on helping leading brands leverage cutting-edge technology to innovate and delight their customers. As one of the INC 500 fastest-growing private companies and the fastest growing Black-owned digital agency in the US we pride ourselves on the quality of our work and partnerships with our clients. We specialize in immersive technology (AR/VR) and technical partnerships leveraging web, mobile and back end development.

We've used WebAR to launch a new shoe line for Adidas for over 110m viewers, rebuilt the technology powering the New York Lottery, helped Patrón bring gifting into the metaverse and did our part to rewild the world with Leonardo DiCaprio and Re:wild. In doing so, the team has won multiple Webby and Shorty awards, been featured in Vogue, WWD, and Harpers Bazaar, and more importantly, had fun doing it. Our mission is to create the most innovative digital agency of our time by guiding the world’s most impactful brands/products into the metaverse

ROSE is looking for an experienced Product Owner to join our team to work with our clients and project teams to help us create best in class digital products, and also help us establish a discrete Product Management practice area to complement our existing Project Management and Technology teams. On client engagements you will work with business stakeholders and our internal project teams to clarify the overall vision of the product / engagement, develop the prioritization and roadmap to inform what is required at launch and what can be created over time, and then add in increasing levels of detail to define the specific features and functionality required to design, develop, and launch the product. In this position you will have the unique opportunity to impact both early-phase initiatives in establishing a minimum viable product – where the definition of priorities and definition of the roadmap is most impactful – as well as being able to iterate on product development through multiple phases and releases.

Organizationally you will help to establish best practices, working processes, documentation and requirement reference material formats, and other aspects of how the Product group at Rose will form and evolve. We are looking for someone experienced who can not only help a client clarify their goals and enable a team to bring those ideas to life, but can also help to grow that capability at Rose from something we do implicitly in the course of digital project development to a practice area and core capability.

We are looking for someone who is able to simplify complex technical concepts and approaches and explain the benefits / implication to non-technical people, who can interpret business requirements into actionable and prioritized to-dos, and who is able to keep both the product vision as well as the implementation considerations in mind.

Responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibility is to act as the Rose Digital team representative for our clients – to be the source of truth for our team, the person who can answer questions and get clarification on right vs wrong, and the person that understands both high-level needs and priorities as well as the minute details that are required as we create digital products.
  • Ability to work hand and hand with Project Management to plan, create and execute the client vision on time and on budget utilizing agile principles and ceremonies.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the scope of work and intended functionality, both over time and multiple releases as well as the specific needs of the current iteration / release the team is working on at any given time.
  • Work with our clients at the outset of our engagements to define the requirements of the product we are building. This includes determining what features and functionality need to be included based off of high-level conceptual product features as defined in Statements of Work and subsequent conversations.
  • Lead requirements gathering and detailing workshops as needed to clearly define areas of functionality and mapping them according to scope (MVP, initial launch, future phase, etc)
  • Iterate and update requirements as required throughout the course of the product development cycle, keeping them up to date as decisions are made, priorities are shifted, and user or client needs are clarified.
  • Own the process and associated meetings, ceremonies, and documentation involved as a product owner on an agile project – high level feature prioritization, backlog grooming, sprint planning, conduct product demos to confirm functionality or instigate feedback, and when needed organize working sessions with client stakeholders and/or internal team members to clarify and define requirements.
  • Provide the actionable requirements for the User Experience (UX), Visual Design, and Development teams needed to develop a specific feature “to specification”.
  • Create detailed use cases, supporting functional requirements, workflows, user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Create presentations and lead demos of completed work in order to confirm functionality and to solicit feedback.
  • Review, prioritize, comment and follow up on product defects and deviations intended functionality within the current phase and scope of work.
  • Support and lead key internal cross-functional activities necessary for successful product release.
  • Quickly and easily translate business requirements into functional requirements, well-defined user stories with acceptance criteria.
  • Lead and participate in customer conversations and focus groups to ensure full understanding of the problems, their solutions, and the processes surrounding them.
  • Work with engineering, user experience and software quality assurance to ensure the defined functional requirements are properly interpreted and implemented.
  • Demonstrate a strategic mindset; understanding how products/features are impacting other work being done within the organization
  • Lead the evaluation of completed sprints, retrospectives, and assessment of results
  • Build and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with a diverse range of staff, technical and non-technical

Qualifications:

  • 5 years experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or Product Manager
  • Passion for creating customer value through innovative technology solutions
  • Self-starter attitude, results-driven, data-driven, and action-oriented who seeks out opportunities to help others succeed with their projects
  • Able to hold both the “big idea” vision and the specific details together in their heads at the same time, and to constantly be vetting one against the other – come up with a concept, then immediately find weaknesses / assess feasibility.
  • Able to present to senior management level audiences, both internal and external, with varying levels of technical understanding.
  • Understands and practice of the fundamentals of agile and scrum oriented product processes that guide iterative software development
  • Currently holder of or are interested in pursuing training to become a Certified Product Owner (scrum).
  • Superb attention to detail and quality control.
  • Outstanding organization and time management.
  • Excellent communication and experience communicating to stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with colleagues, vendors, clients, and management and be able to translate complicated information clearly concisely for colleagues and clients.
