Essential Duties include, but are not limited to: Interviewing applicants/recipients and collateral contacts using various complex automated systems; Explaining the requirements and benefits of all Family & Children’s Medicaid, and Adult Medicaid Programs, Food & Nutrition Services, Work First Family Assistance; Explaining the Federally Facilitated Marketplace; and determining initial or continuing eligibility for the various programs. Duties include researching and evaluating resources; verifying information; processing applications; referring individuals to other appropriate agencies or community programs; and documenting findings and the status of the case. The U-IMC II monitors continual compliance with all program requirements, responds to changes in the applicant/recipient’s need for assistance, provides input to the supervisor on programmatic issues, and reacts according to policy when the individual/family is no longer eligible for services. The U-IMC II is also responsible for determining when a referral to Program Integrity is necessary.
This worker must be human services oriented and possess the ability to interact well with the Supervisor, co-workers and customers and be able to work both independently and in a team environment. This worker may be required to respond to disasters according to the Rockingham County Emergency Services Plan. Other duties may be assigned to the worker when deemed necessary by the Supervisor or based on workload requirements within the agency.
Physical Requirements:
This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions, frequently requires reaching with hands and arms and occasionally requires standing, walking, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, pushing or pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
High school diploma or GED and moderate experience in a clerical position involving public contact, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
Complete NC FAST training within one year of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Preference will be given to applicants with one or more years of experience in Public Assistance Programs and the NC Fast Case Management System. Bi-lingual ability (English – Spanish) is desirable.

Note: In accordance with State mandates and the Rockingham County Emergency Operations Plan, Rockingham County Health and Human Services staff from the Divisions of Social Services, Public Health and Integrated Health are required to staff emergency shelters during times of disaster. Please be advised that every staff person is eligible to be assigned to an emergency shelter or Emergency Operations Center.
