Legal Assistants directly support lawyers and occasionally oversee other legal staff, such as file clerks or legal secretaries.The ideal Legal Assistant will have sound technical and computer knowledge as well as excellent analytical, communication and organizational skills.In some cases, law firms prefer three to five years of legal experience in a law firm or other corporate legal department.Your responsibilities- Reorder e-documents and files into proper categories- Categorized documents for photocopying/scanning needs- Fulfill word processing, filing and faxing- Supervise matter management and record keeping- Delve into archives and retrieve electronic documents from a variety of court and agency web sites- Type correspondence and memorandum- Amass documents and assemble data as directed by lawyers and paralegals- Fulfill legal research and investigative tasks, including obtaining information or documents from outside parties, as directed- Administer computer database input and retrieval- Ensure copied documents are duplicates of their original documents
